    Abstract
Perturbed-Chain Statistical Associating Fluid Theory Equation of State (PC-SAFT EoS) requires cross interaction parameter for each binary pair in the mixture. For real mixtures, these parameters should be corrected by binary interaction coefficients (kij's). The values of kij's are tuned by an optimization method in order to minimize the deviation from equilibrium data. The Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm is employed for optimization of kij's due to the continuous nature of kij and highly nonlinear nature of PC-SAFT EoS. Although kij can be adjusted using the mentioned algorithm, it is cumbersome and highly time-consuming because the optimization should be performed for each pair...

Heat transfer enhancement of Fe3O4 ferrofluids in the presence of magnetic field

    , Article Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials ; Volume 429 , 2017 , Pages 314-323 ; 03048853 (ISSN) Fadaei, F ; Shahrokhi, M ; Molaei Dehkordi, A ; Abbasi, Z ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this article, three-dimensional (3D) forced-convection heat transfer of magnetic nanofluids in a pipe subject to constant wall heat flux in the presence of single or double permanent magnet(s) or current-carrying wire has been investigated and compared. In this regard, laminar fluid flow and equilibrium magnetization for the ferrofluid were considered. In addition, variations of magnetic field in different media were taken into account and the assumption of having a linear relationship of magnetization with applied magnetic field intensity was also relaxed. Effects of magnetic field intensity, nanoparticle volume fraction, Reynolds number value, and the type of magnetic field source...

    Abstract
In this work, forced-convection heat transfer of magnetic-sensitive nanofluids has been investigated in the presence of rotating magnetic field. In this regard, the laminar, Newtonian, incompressible, and two-dimensional (2D) fluid flow in a horizontal duct subject to constant wall temperature boundary condition was modeled. Moreover, the fluid was supposed to be non-electrical conductive and the magnetic field source comprised of two time varying components perpendicular to each other. Influences of magnetic field intensity and frequency, inlet fluid velocity, and spin viscosity on the forced-convection heat transfer of the magnetic nanofluids were investigated. It was found that the...

    Abstract
Graphene oxide membranes were prepared by vacuum and pressurized ultrafiltration methods on the 12% modified Polyacrylonitrile (12mPAN) substrate to specify challenges, salient features, future directions, and potential of GO membrane for separation fields using characterization techniques and gas separation test (studied gases are CO2, He and N2), which is an efficient tool for better understanding of GO membrane behavior. GO membrane structure was examined over a wide range of parameters, such as pore size range of substrate and its surface properties, pH of GO dispersion, GO content, synthesis pressure, operating pressure and temperature. The results show that the GO content does not hold...

    , Article Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials ; Volume 475 , 2019 , Pages 304-315 ; 03048853 (ISSN) Fadaei, F ; Shahrokhi, M ; Molaei Dehkordi, A ; Abbasi, Z ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier B.V  2019
    Abstract
In this article, effects of magnetic fields induced by a finite length solenoid on the forced-convection heat transfer in a pipe partially filled with porous medium have been investigated. In this regard, two-dimensional steady-state fluid flow in the pipe was considered and the Darcy–Brinkman equation of motion was applied to model the fluid flow in the porous medium, as well as the thermal equilibrium was assumed between the solid phase and the magnetic nanofluid. Effects of electric current passing through the solenoid and the solenoid dimensions (i.e.; diameter and length) on the forced-convection heat transfer were studied carefully. The combined effects of the magnetic field and the...

    Abstract
Sparse representation can be extended to high dimensions and can be used in many applications, including three-dimensional (3D) Inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) imaging. In this study, the high-dimensional sparse representation problem and a recovery method called high-dimensional smoothed least zero-norm (HDSL0) are formulated. In this method, the theory and computation of tensors and approximating L0 norm using Gaussian functions are used for sparse recovery of high-dimensional data. To enhance the performance of HDSL0, modified regularised high-dimensional SL0 (MRe-HDSL0) algorithm, which benefits from the regularised form of SL0 and an additional hard thresholding step, is...

    Abstract
The solubility of Pd(NO3)2 in water is moderate whereas it is completely soluble in diluted HNO3 solution. Pd/MIL-101(Cr) and Pd/MIL-101-NH2(Cr) were synthesized by aqueous solution of Pd(NO3)2 and Pd(NO3)2 solution in dilute HNO3 and used for CO oxidation reaction. The catalysts synthesized with Pd(NO3)2 solution in dilute HNO3 showed lower activity. The aqueous solution of Pd(NO3)2 was used for synthesis of mono-metal Ni, Pd and bimetallic PdNi nanoparticles with various molar ratios supported on MOF. Pd70Ni30/MIL-101(Cr) catalyst showed higher activity than monometallic counterparts and Pd + Ni physical mixture due to the strong synergistic effect of PdNi nanoparticles, high distribution...

Improved method for increasing accessible pores of MIL-101(Cr) by encapsulation and removal of Phosphotungstic acid (PTA): Pd/PTA-MIL-101(Cr) as an effective catalyst for CO oxidation

    Abstract
This study forwards a novel and simple approach for encapsulation of Phosphotungstic acid (PTA) into MIL-101(Cr) cavities to develop PTA-MIL-101(Cr) with a high surface area. In this method, the resulting surface area of PTA-MIL-101(Cr) (3563 m2/g) is 1.72 times that of MIL-101(Cr) due to the existence of more accessible pores which are formed by leaching of PTAs incorporated inside MIL-101(Cr) pores during the intense washing. Catalysts are investigated in CO oxidation under atmospheric pressure and feed composition of 1%CO, 20%O2, and 79%He. 3%Pd/PTA-MIL-101(Cr) shows 100%CO conversion at T = 145 °C and outperforms PTA, PTA-MIL-101(Cr), Pd/PTA, 1–3%Pd/MIL-101(Cr), Pd-PTA/MIL-101(Cr), and...

    Abstract
By generalising dictionary learning (DL) algorithms to multidimensional (MD) mode and using them in applications where signals are inherently multidimensional, such as in three-dimensional (3D) inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) imaging, it is possible to achieve much higher speed and less computational complexity. In this study, the formulation of the multidimensional dictionary learning (MDDL) problem is expressed and two algorithms are proposed to solve it. The first one is based on the method of optimum directions (MOD) algorithm for 1D dictionary learning (1DDL), which uses alternating minimisation and gradient projection approach. As the MDDL problem is non-convex, the second...
