A Sol-Gel-bonded Coating Deposited on the Surface of Stainless Steel Wire for Solid Phase Microextraction of Environmental Pollutants

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hosseini Nasab, Valiallah (Author) ; Bagheri, Habib (Supervisor) ; Es-haghi, Ali (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
A novel SPME fiber was prepared using sol-gel technology with ethoxylated nonylphenol as a precursor and used for development of a headspace solid phase microextraction coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry method for quantification of 13 priority polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in water samples. The fused silica is the material that has recently been used as a substrate in sol-gel works for preparation of SPME fibers. Given that its drawbacks such as breakability and fragility which make the work tedious and time consuming¬, in this survey stainless steel wires were chosen as a substrate for coating the sol-gel film on them. The fibers made from steel are vary sturdy and aren’t...

High-Throughput Determination of Pesticide Residues by Solid-Phase Microextraction and Micro-Solid Phase Extraction on 96-Well Plate

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Eshaghi, Ali (Author) ; Bagheri, Habib (Supervisor) ; Es-haghi, Ali ($item.subfieldsMap.e)
    Abstract
Novel high-throughput device and their applications as the microextraction systems for pesticide multiresidue determination is the centre of this research. 96 extracting unit based on solid phase microextraction and micro-Solid phase extraction were constructed and applied for high-throughput extraction.
In the first work, a high-throughput SPME on 96-well plate together with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry was developed for the determination of pesticide residues in cucumber samples. A home-made Teflon block consisting ninety-six holes was constructed to 96 SPME fibers being positioned in. SPME fibers consisted of stainless steel rods with a 1.0 cm polydimethylsiloxane tubing...

Resorcinol-Formaldehyde Xerogel for Analysis of Environmental Pollutant in Aqueous Sample

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Zare, Maryam (Author) ; Bagheri, Habib (Supervisor) ; Es-haghi, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study, a new resorcinol-formaldehyde xerogel was synthesized based on sol-gel technology and employed as a sorbent for micro solid phase extraction (µ-SPE) of BTEX and some selected pesticides from aqueous samples.
In the first part, a µ-SPE method in combined with headspace solvent microextraction (HS-SME) along with gas chromatography- mass spectrometry detection (GC–MS) was developed for the analysis of BTEX in aqueous samples. In our knowledge, this is for the first time that these two different extraction methods has been coupled to maximize the advantage of each extraction method. Influential parameters such as the peristaltic pump flow rate, extraction volume, extraction...
