    Abstract
The sampling process in electrical devices includes non-linear distortion which needs to be compensated to boost up the system efficiency. In this paper, a blind method is suggested for non-linear distortion compensation. The core idea is to leverage the sparsity of the signal to cope with the ill-posedness of the distortion compensation task. The proposed scheme is an iterative method based on out of support energy minmization where the support information is not available. An adaptive thresholding operator is used to give a rough approximation of the support according to the estimated signal at each iteration. Various simulation scenarios have validated the capability of the suggested...

    Abstract
This paper presents nonlinear signal and noise analysis of a wide gate FET mixer. The study is performed using nonlinear sliced modeling. The FET is taken into account as a distributed element and divided into several smaller pieces so that in each slice a lumped model can be applied. Calculation of passive and active elements of each slice is performed using proper scaling approach. For noise analysis, appropriate noise sources are added to the distributed circuit The wide gate FETs have been suggested for high power, wideband and high gain devices such as travelling wave amplifier. The nonlinear application is suggested for a novel device named travelling wave mixer. © 2000 IEEE

Signal and noise improvement of travelling wave fet mixers

    Abstract
The influence of the loading of the FET electrodes, on signal and noise performances of the device in mixer application is studied. It is shown that exciting the input signal from one end of the gate and extracting the output signal from the opposite ends of the gate can improve the device characteristics, provided that the two remaining ends of the gate and the drain are properly loaded. This structure makes the lines (i.e. the gate and the drain electrodes) to be matched with the loads. Therefore it leads to a travelling wave FET mixer, which is a good candidate for high power mm-wave application. © 2000 IEEE

Behaviour of End-Plate Connections in 3D Frames Under Fire Conditions: Experimental Study

    , Article International Journal of Steel Structures ; Volume 18, Issue 3 , 2018 , Pages 734-749 ; 15982351 (ISSN) Khonsari, S.V ; Vosough Grayli, P ; Ghorbani, A ; Roshani Moghaddam, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Due to high vulnerability of steel structures to elevated temperatures and the need for taking adequate and effective measures to reduce human and financial losses in fires, a thorough understanding of such behaviour is of utmost importance. In this research, a half-scale 3D model, comprising moment-resisting frames, equipped with flush end-plate connections, in one direction, and braced frames in the other, was subjected to a scaled ISO 834 standard fire. The maximum attained temperature was 1055 °C. The results showed that the structure tolerates high temperatures for an appreciable amount of time before collapsing. Moreover, for thick flush end-plates, which were used in this study, the...

    , Article International Conference on Data Networks, Communications, Computers - Proceedings, 3 November 2010 through 5 November 2010, Faro ; 2010 , Pages 92-96 ; 9789604742455 (ISBN) Karkhaneh, H ; Javadzadeh, S. Abstract
The nonlinear characteristic of an laser diode, LD, impacts on the performance of optical wireless systems using OFDM(orthogonal frequency division multiplexing). First, the influence of the nonlinear characteristic on bit-error performance is analyzed using a high power LD (LML-808.7B-XX). Next, the paper proposes a pre-distorter to compensate the nonlinearities. Finally, the coherent optical OFDM (CO-OFDM) system is considered and the performance without linearization and after linearization is analyzed via simulations in an AWGN (additive white Gaussian noise) environment. It is shown that LD nonlinearity can significantly degrade the performance. However, it is demonstrated that this...
