Optical Properties of Gel Cast and Sintered Alumina Ceramics

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghorbani, Mohammad (Author) ; Nemati, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this process transparent polycrystalline alumina ceramic was provided by submicron alumina gel casting and spark plasma sintering. The monomer system in this process including met acrylamide and methylene bis acrylamide was chosen as a monomer and cross linker. These two agents comprise 5%wt of the precursor with the ratio of 3 to 1 respectively. With the optimization of Dolapix CE64 as a dispersant and providing the suspension with 76%wt, a greenware with the density of 56.3% wt was obtained. Differential thermal analysis of green body showed that the existing monomers are removed by the time the body reaches 550°C. In order to access high real in-line transmittance, the microstructure...

Design of Mti Filters with Non-Uniform Sampling

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghorbani, Abbas (Author) ; Nayebi, Mohammad Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In MTI radars, digital filters utilizing non-uniform sampling are used to remove the echo of stationary targets or the ones with minor Doppler shift. These targets usually are associated with significant reflection causing small, high-speed targets not to be detected. In this type of filters, the use of non-uniform sampling prevents the blind speed issue and causes the first blind speed to occur at higher frequencies. The performance of such filters is characterized by two criteria: Coefficients and periods. Therefore, coefficient optimization in filter design has a dominant role in maximizing clutter rejection. Also, period optimization is used to prevent generating deep nulls in the...

Financing Through Money Creation: The Role of Central Bank Policies

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghorbani, Sajad (Author) ; Madanizadeh, Ali (Supervisor) ; Mahmoudzadeh, Amineh (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In the banking and macro-financial literature، banks are modeled as financial intermediaries who give loans to the borrowers from their deposits. In these models، deposits are created from the accumulation of real goods. Besides this view، which is used more in the academic environment، others who are most practical، describe banks not intermediaries، but credit creator which do not need deposits to pay loans. In this research، we use credit creation concept in a Neoclassic environment that the central bank’s monetary policy is fractional reserve to answer this question that if banks could create credit for firms based on its future income، while firms have CIA constraints، how do economic...

    Teichmüller Spaces and Grothendieck’s Dessins

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghorbani, Hanie (Author) ; Safdari, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Kamalinejad, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The main goal of this thesis is to study the Teichmüller space and its geometric properties. The Teichmüller space of a surface can be studied from complex geometric or hyperbolic geometric points of view, and in this thesis we refer to both of these viewpoints where needed. Another goal of this thesis is to review a method of compactification of the Teichmüller space. Therefore, we introduce the compactification method proposed by Thurston. To this end, we first briefly review hyperbolic geometry. Then we extend some tools, and use some techniques in hyperbolic geometry, to describe Thurston’s construction and pave the way for it. In the second phase of this study, we introduce...

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Boroun, Zhoubin (Author) ; Ghorbani, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Moosavi, Ali (Supervisor) ; Mohammadpour, Raheleh (Supervisor)
    Abstract
H2S is a toxic and corrosive gas which is detrimental for both human’s health and some of important industries such as oil and gas. Based on different experimental research among various systems, resistive sensors fabricated from SnO2-CuO nanostructures have promising performance toward detection of this gas. High sensitivity and selectivity, response time of order of seconds, recovery times of order of tens of seconds and determining concentration of H2S gas below ppm level are advantages of this system. Unfortunately due to lack of a theoretical model, current experimental researches are excessively based on “trial and error” methodology. In this research some of the basic questions which...

Simulation of Rainfall-triggered Landslides with Considering the Rheology Changes in Sandy Soils

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Ghorbani, Ramin (Author) ; Taghizadeh Manzari, Mehrdad (Supervisor) ; Hajilouy-Benisi, Ali (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
This study presents an integrated two-dimensional numerical framework for simulating rainfall-induced landslides from instability initiation to post-failure flow. The discrete element method (DEM) is used to establish a rheological model that relates the apparent viscosity of a granular sand to shear rate, normal stress, and water saturation. A theoretical model is developed to determine water distribution and water-induced forces between particles for different saturations. The resulting forces are embedded in a 3D shear cell as a numerical rheometer and a wet sand is sheared between two walls. A power law rheological model is obtained as a function of inertia number and saturation. It was...

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Zarghami, Vahid (Author) ; Ghorbani, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Shokrgozar, Mohammad Ali (Supervisor) ; Pooshang Bagheri, Kamran (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
Aseptic loosening and infection are two major problems of bone implants. Aseptic loosening occurs due to poor cell growth and poor adhesion to the implant surface over time. Bone infection at the implant site occurs mainly by the staphylococcus aureus bacteria. In some cases, infection occurs in the short term and in the early times after implantation, and in some cases, infection occurs in later times. The aim of this study is to synthesize and evaluate antibacterial coatings, while having cell growth-promoting components and cell differentiation to solve bone implant problems simultaneously. Also, the issue of bacterial resistance to antibiotics and their risks in bone implants is another...

    Electroplating of Bronze-Graphite-SiC Composite Coating

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Asnavandi, Majid (Author) ; Ghorbani, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Composite coatings including self-lubricant particles such as graphite, MoS2, Al2O3 and SiC are extensively used to decrease the coefficient of friction of tribo-surfaces. Adding lubricant particles to an appropriate metallic matrix like copper, nickel, lead and their alloys is a suitable option in severe condition –for instance high temperature and low pressure- which liquid lubricants will be failed. Bronze can give various properties such as wear resistance, corrosion and oxidation protection, However cyanide solutions for electroplating process have environmentally limited for plating of Cu-Sn. In this research, a chloride electrolyte for bronze electroplating was developed and effect of...

Statistical MPSoC Architecture Optimization under Process Variation

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghorbani, Mahboobeh (Author) ; Goudarzi, Maziar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In nanometer technologies, the effect of process variation is observed in Multi-Processor System on Chip (MPSoC) in terms of variation in processors‟ frequency and leakage power. Traditionally, only worst case values of the system parameters were concerned and a worst-case optimization algorithm was employed for an application under design. As previous researches have shown these algorithms are not optimal in terms of parametric yield compared with newly employed statistical optimization algorithms. In this project, we have considered the problem of simultaneously selecting MPSoC architecture (which includes type and number of processors and the communication media) and task and...

The Effect of Porosity on Photocatalytic Properties of TiO2 Nanocoating Fabricated By Sol-Gel

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mehmandoust, Ehsan (Author) ; Ghorbani, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This thesis is concerned with the synthesis and characterization of high porous Ti based on thin films and the effect of polymer agents on their photocatalytic properties. Ti films can demonstrate different properties like self -cleaning and treatment of broad range of aqueous pollutants when it is exposed to light of wavelength less than 400 nm. This is due to photocatalytic reaction occurring on film surface which results in film superhydrophilicity and the active oxygen species production. This active sites and radicals will cause oxidize organic pollutants and microbe adherent to the material surface.
In this study Ti thin films have been prepared by the sol-gel method from...

Optimal Control of Spacecraft on the Earth-Moon Lagrange Point Orbits considering Sun and other Planets and Elliptic Orbit Perturbations

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghorbani, Mehrdad (Author) ; Assadian, Nima (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis, optimal station keeping of spacecraft on the closed-orbits near the Earth-Moon Lagrange points has been investigated. Lagrange points L1 and L2 are unstable equilibrium points of the circular restricted three-body problem (CRTBP), and periodic orbits near them are the destination of modern missions. However, perturbations resulting from the gravitational forces of the Sun and the planets and the eccentricity of the orbit of the Moon around the Earth make the Lagrange point unstable, even L4 and L5, which are stable in CRTBP. The most suitable choice for spacecraft mission near the collinear Lagrange points is the Halo and other closed-orbits around them, which need...
