Abstract
It is proved that the out-of-phase autocorrelation of a well-known class of multiplexed sequences for cryptographic and spread spectrum applications is necessarily high for relatively small values of the phase shifts. Related design criteria for the multiplexer generator including the use of full positive difference sets are proposed. By generalizing the classical occupancy problem, higher order statistical weaknesses of multiplexed sequences are also established. © 2002 Elsevier Science (USA)

Abstract
Abstract. The linear sequential circuit approximation method for combiners with memory is used to find mutually correlated linear transforms of the input and output sequences in the well-known summation generator with any number of inputs. It is shown that the determined correlation coefficient is large enough for applying a fast correlation attack to the output sequence to reconstruct the initial states of the input linear feedback shift registers. The proposed attack is based on iterative probabilistic decoding and appropriately generated low-weight parity-checks. The response of infinite beams supported by nonlinear viscoelastic foundations subjected to harmonic moving loads is studied. A straightforward solution technique applicable in the frequency domain is presented in this paper. The governing equations are solved using a perturbation method in conjunction with complex Fourier transformation. A closed-formed solution is presented in an integral form based on the presented Green's function and the theorem of residues is used for the calculation of integrals. The ride comfort of high-speed trains passing over railway bridges is studied in this paper. The effects of some nonlinear parameters in a carriage-track-bridge system are investigated such as the load-stiffening characteristics of the rail-pad and the ballast, rubber elements in the primary and secondary suspension systems. The influence of the track irregularity and train speed on two comfort indicators, namely Sperling's comfort index and the maximum acceleration level, are also studied. This study presents a novel perspective on pressure-transient analysis (PTA) of downhole-pressure and flow-rate data by use of system-identification (SI) techniques as widely used in advanced process engineering. The learning vector quantization (LVQ) neural network is a useful tool for pattern recognition. Based on the network weights obtained from the training set, prediction can be made for the unknown objects. In this paper, discrimination of wines based on 2D NMR spectra is performed using LVQ neural networks with orthogonal signal correction (OSC). OSC has been proposed as a data preprocessing method that removes from X information not correlated to Y. In this paper we study and evaluate the performance of a spectral-phase encoded optical CDMA (SPE-OCDMA) system using advanced receiver structures based on second harmonic generation (SHG) effect imposed in a Thick or Thin crystal. The mathematical modeling of a bolted joint with a Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) actuator ring is presented. In this way, phase transformation, constitutive and displacement compatibility equations are used. The obtained model is utilized to show how the application of the SMA actuator ring in the bolted joint can help the joint to recover a significant amount of its lost clamping force. The model is run using the experimental data obtained for the Ni-55.7%wt Ti SMA in the companion paper (Part 1). Residual stresses, created in a steel beam by elastic-plastic bending, are predicted using an approximate analysis and the finite element method. The predictions are compared to experimental measurements obtained from the application of incremental centre hole drilling, deep hole drilling and neutron diffraction methods. Nanocrystalline and nanostructured TiO2-Cr2O3 thin films and powders were prepared by a facile and straightforward aqueous particulate sol-gel route at low temperature of 400°C. The prepared sols showed a narrow particle size distribution with hydrodynamic diameter in the range of 17.7 nm to 19.0 nm. The low temperature perovskite-type calcium titanate (CaTiO3) thin films and powders with nanocrystalline and mesoporous structure were prepared by a straightforward particulate sol-gel route. The prepared sol had a narrow particle size distribution about 17 nm. The morphological manipulation and structural characterisation of TiO 2-MgO binary system by an aqueous particulate sol-gel route were reported. Different crystal structures including pure MgTiO 3, mixtures of MgTiO 3 and TiO 2 and mixtures of MgTiO 3 and Mg 2TiO 4 were tailored by controlling Mg:Ti molar ratio and annealing temperatures as the processing parameters.
