    , Article IEEE Transactions on Information Theory ; 18 November , 2020 Haddadi, F ; Amini, A ; Sharif University of Technology
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc  2020
    Abstract
We investigate eigenvectors of rank-one deformations of random matrices B = A + θuu* in which A ∈ RN×N is a Wigner real symmetric random matrix, θ ∈ R+, and u is uniformly distributed on the unit sphere. It is well known that for θ > 1 the eigenvector associated with the largest eigenvalue of B closely estimates u asymptotically, while for θ < 1 the eigenvectors of B are uninformative about u. We examine O(1/N) correlation of eigenvectors with u before phase transition and show that eigenvectors with larger eigenvalue exhibit stronger alignment with deforming vector through an explicit inverse law 1/θ*-x with θ* := θ + 1/θ. This distribution function will be shown to be the ordinary...

    Abstract
OBJECTIVES: Recent advances in the field of acoustics and piezoelectric and ultrasound transducers have led to new approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of certain diseases. One method of treatment with ultrasonic waves is high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) treatment, which is a thermal therapeutic method used to treat malignant tumors. Although a variety of treatment-planning strategies using ultrasonic waves have been investigated, little clinical success has been achieved. Computational modeling is a powerful tool for predicting device performance. METHODS: The heating induced by a concave transducer with operating powers of 85 and 135 W was studied, and the experimental results...

    Abstract
Currently, the HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) therapy method is known as one of the most advanced surgical techniques of tumor ablation therapy. Simulation of the non-linear acoustic wave and tissue interaction is essential in HIFU planning to improve the usefulness and efficiency of treatment. In this paper, linear, thermoviscous, and nonlinear equations are applied using two different media: liver and water. Transducer power of 8.3-134 Watts with the frequency of 1.1 MHz is considered as the range of study to analyze the interaction of wave and tissue. Results indicate that the maximum focal pressure of about 0.5-4.3 MPa can be achieved for transducer power rates of 8.3 to 134 W....

Modeling and Control of Magnetically-Levitated Iron-Less Planar Actuators

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Haddadi, Aboutaleb (Author) ; Ranjbar, Ali Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Flying has fascinated mankind for ages. Nowadays, planar actuators are performing the same task as that, once a dream, of a flying magic carpet found in Persian mythology. Magnetically levitated planar actuators (MLPAs) consist of two parts; a moving part, and a stationary part. In most applications the moving part which is an array of permanent magnets (PMs) produces a magnetic flux density in the air-gap, and the stationary part, an array of current carrying coils, produces force and torque when it is exposed to the magnetic flux of the PM array. These actuators have been utilized in industry in applications where precise positioning is important. In recent years however, they have found...

    Tomography with Inverse Heat Transfer

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Haddadi, Mohammad Bagher (Author) ; Farhanieh, Bijan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Tomography offers a unique opportunity to unravel the complexities of the internal structure of an object without the need to invade it. There are various methods for this reason, in which all of them occupy wave or energy, ffiduction for imaging inside an object. Since the tomography plays a vital role in medicine and industry and present methods have limitation and difficulties to operate, the necessity for developing it has been inevitable. In this thesis a new tomography method has been presented in which uses inverse heat conduction for estimating unknown object with heat conductivity k2 inside a known domain with heat conductivity k 1 • For this purpose temperature is measured at...

    Abstract
Stand-alone hybrid power systems are an alternative to main electricity grids, where the grid extension is costly or the trifling local consumption would not justify its expansion. However, lack of consistency and uniformity in renewable energy sources, and the restrictions of energy storage systems make system sizing a challenging task. Optimum size of a stand-alone system depends on several factors including energy demand function. In this paper, different types of demand functions are addressed for optimising a solar-hydrogen supply system. Different parameters are defined to investigate the impact of household population on the power generation cost, and also to determine the optimum...

    Blind two-dimensional super-resolution in multiple-input single-output linear systems

    , Article IEEE Signal Processing Letters ; 2020 Sayyari, S ; Daei, S ; Haddadi, F ; Sharif University of Technology
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc  2020
    Abstract
In this paper, we consider a multiple-input single-output (MISO) linear time-varying system whose output is a superposition of scaled and time-frequency shifted versions of inputs. The goal of this paper is to determine system characteristics and input signals from the single output signal. More precisely, we want to recover the continuous time-frequency shift pairs, the corresponding (complex-valued) amplitudes and the input signals from only one output vector. This problem arises in a variety of applications such as radar imaging, microscopy, channel estimation and localization problems. While this problem is naturally ill-posed, by constraining the unknown input waveforms to lie in...

Wear and thermal effects in low modulus polymer-based composite friction materials

    , Article Journal of Applied Polymer Science ; Volume 95, Issue 5 , 2005 , Pages 1181-1188 ; 00218995 (ISSN) Haddadi, E ; Abbasi, F ; Shojaei, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    2005
    Abstract
The wear properties of low modulus polymer-based friction materials were studied. The wear equation W = K Pa Vb tc was used to correlate the wear of polymer-based friction material sliding against cast iron with the wear coefficient (K), load (P), speed (V), and time (f). The parameters were determined experimentally by varying only one variable at a time and keeping the other two variables constant. The wear rate of selected polymer-based friction material was compared with cast iron friction material. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc

    Abstract
In this paper, we study the power allocation problem in multi-cell orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) networks. In order to improve system performance in cell-edges, users are separated into two groups with respect to their distance from base-stations (BSs): Central users and cell-edge users. Coordinated multi-point joint transmission (CoMP-JT) technology incorporated with static clustering is used for users near the cell-edges. In addition, our goal is to serve users with different target signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) according to their requested quality of services. Consequently, revenue of the service provider is considered as another factor and two...
