Determination of Number and Location of Models to Improve Transient Response in a Multi-model Adaptive Control
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Haeri, Mohammad (Supervisor)
Abstract
In recent decays, multiple model controllers have been attracted much attention due to their essential ability to control of non-linear systems with wide operating ranges. Number and location of models are two important factors. In this research an algorithm for determining number of models and their locations has been proposed which can be counted as an extension to existing algorithms. Utilizing the proposed algorithm, the minimum number of models which achieve closed-loop stability can be determined. If transient response of non-linear system with these models be not satisfactory, the number of models are increased by one using Binary Search method, and consequently the location of models...

Abstract
Evaluating the enviroment for achieving efcient kwnoledge in order to justifed environment recognition and making decision based on data analysis is proponed in many felds. One of these problems is Visibility Problem. The Recieved data from real world as input, for visibility problem, is uncertain such that the recieving data of two different measurments will be different with high probability. Therefore, we defne the goal of this research to solving the visibility problem conditioned to that objects or segments are uncertain.Consider ”S” as a set of ”n” uncertain segments in plane. Each uncertain segment locates in two certain places and with probability 1 2 in each place, the goal is to...
Estimation Elasticity of Calorie and Macronutrients with Respect to Income in the Islamic Republic of Iran, 2008-2016
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Vesal, Mohammad (Supervisor)
Abstract
Inadequate nutrition is perhaps the most important problem facing the poor. Being hungry lowers productivity and decreases individuals’ income. All of these factors conspire to help the poor stay poor. Raising the income of the poor is one solution for this problem if the elasticity of calorie and macronutrients with respect to income is greater than zero. This study employs both nonparametric and parametric methods to obtain the elasticity of per capita calorie and macronutrients with respect to household per capita expenditure. The case presented is for urban areas of Islamic republic of Iran, 2008-2016. Under each estimation strategy we employ, we find a strongly significant and positive...
Effects of Nano Metallic Catalysts on The Life-Time and Efficiency of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Vesaghi, Mohammad Ali (Supervisor)
Abstract
The Fuel cell is an energy converter which converts the chemical energy of a chemical reaction to electricity and heat directly and without any pollution. One of the most important types of fuel cells is the proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell. The importance of PEM fuel cells is a result of their high energy density, quick start up ability, lower operating temperature, high efficiency and low or zero emissions. Catalysts play an important role in both costs and durability of PEM fuel cells. Alloying the Pt with other metals can increase the activity of the catalysts of the fuel cells and also reduces the amount of costly Pt. In this study, the nanoparticles of Ni were added to the...
A misbehavior‐tolerant multipath routing protocol for wireless Ad hoc networks [electronic resource]
, Article International Journal of Research in Wireless Systems (IJRWS) ; Vol. 2, Issue 9, pp. , Sep. 2013 ; Pakravan, Mohammad Reza ; Aref, Mohammad Reza ; Sharif University of Technology
Abstract
Secure routing is a major key to service maintenance in ad hoc networks. Ad hoc nature exposes the network to several types of node misbehavior or attacks. As a result of the resource limitations in such networks nodes may have a tendency to behave selfishly. Selfish behavior can have drastic impacts on network performance. We have proposed a Misbehavior-Tolerant Multipath Routing protocol (MTMR) which detects and punishes all types of misbehavior such as selfish behavior, wormhole, sinkhole and grey-hole attacks. The protocol utilizes a proactive approach to enforce cooperation. In addition, it uses a novel data redirection method to mitigate the impact of node misbehavior on network...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Outokesh, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Hosseinpour, Morteza (Co-Supervisor)
Abstract
Although much progress has been made in eliminating, conserving, and reducing migration and emissions of radioactive materials, the risk of radioactive material release into the environment is still one of the most important hazards in the use of nuclear energy. In this study, graphene compounds have been used as adsorbents for the removal of radioactive materials due to their high level, cost-effectiveness and simplicity of the synthesis process of various composites. In this regard, the removal of strontium and cobalt by graphene compounds has been investigated. Magnetite nanoparticles were anchored on the surface of graphene by sol-gel method and adsorption in batch mode was investigated....

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Kazemeini, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Hosseinpour, Vahid (Co-Supervisor)
Abstract
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis is the most common type of pulmonary fibrosis that causes ulcers inside the lungs. In addition to Nintedanib, Pirfenidone is currently the only compound approved by the US Food and Drug Administration in 2014 for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Meanwhile, in the pharmaceutical industry, drug synthesis is usually done through batch-wise processes, and pirfenidone is currently only produced through batch-wise processes. Hence, this study aims to change the synthesis method of this drug, which is traditionally performed through batch-wise processes, to a continuous flow process. Therefore, a micro-reactor technology can be adopted which offers a...
Continuous Catalytic Synthesis of Medicine Through a Micro-Reactor System
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Kazemeini, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Hosseinpour, Vahid (Co-Supervisor)
Abstract
In the past decades, the production of various active pharmaceutical ingredients in batch processes was common. But today, the approach of pharmaceutical companies has changed and the use of the equipment and continuous processes such as microreactors has become common for reasons of safety, better mass and heat transfer, reduction of operators, and ease of scale-up. Unlike many top-selling drugs such as Ibuprofen and Artemisinin, Clopidogrel, the world's third best-selling drug needed by cardiac patients, has been manufactured only in batch processes. Due to the increase in the average age of the population, the urgent need for the use of Plavix (clopidogrel) has increased in recent years....

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Aref, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor) ; Pakravan, Mohammad Reza (Co-Advisor)
Abstract
High-quality online services demand reliable and fast packet delivery at the network layer. However, clear evidence documents the existence of compromised routers in the ISP and enterprise networks, threatening network availability and reliability. A compromised router can stealthily drop, modify, inject, or delay packets in the forwarding path to launch Denial-of-Service, surveillance, man-in-the-middle attacks, etc. So researches tried to create intrusion detection methods to identify adversarial routers and switches. To this end, data-plane fault localization (FL) aims to identify faulty links and is an effective means of achieving high network availability. FL protocols use...

Abstract
Providing high bandwidth network infrastructures for ever increasing need of data transport is of great importance. The underling infrastructure for many communication services such as GSM/3G/4G mobile networks and Internet services is Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) optical transport systems. SDH are standardized protocols that multiplex multiple lower rate digital bit streams, such as E1 and Ethernet, and transfer them synchronously over optical fiber using lasers or LEDs. In addition to high data transfer rates, flexible network management and protection mechanisms have great importance, hence are part of SDH standards. In order to obtain flexible network architecture and protected...
Preserving Privacy in Smart Grid
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Aref, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor) ; Pakravan, Mohammad Reza (Co-Advisor)
Abstract
Development of Smart Grid and deployment of smart meters in large scale has raised a lot of concerns regarding customers’ privacy. Consequently, several schemes have been proposed to overcome the above mentioned issue. These schemes mainly rely on data aggregation as a method of protecting users’ privacy from the grid operators. However, the main problem with most of these schemes is the fact that they require a large amount of processing power at the meter side. This, together with the fact that smart meters don’t usually have a powerful processor, can cause the unavailability of smart meter data at the required time for operators of the grid, and at the same time disables smart meters from...
