    A web-based multi-optimisation approach for convergent product networks using the Steiner tree

    Abstract
    We propose a methodology to determine value by adding functionalities for convergent products. A collection of base functions and sub-functions configure the nodes of a web-based (digital) network representing functionalities. Each arc in the network is to be assigned as the link between two nodes. The aim is to find an optimal tree of functionalities in the network adding value to the product in the web environment. First, a purification process is performed in the product network to assign the links among bases and sub-functions.     We design an optimal pipe diameter sizing in a tree-structured natural gas network. Design of pipeline, facility and equipment systems are necessary tasks to configure an optimal natural gas network.     We are concerned with an open shop scheduling problem having sequence-dependent setup times. A novel bi-objective possibilistic mixed-integer linear programming model is presented. Sequence-dependent setup times, fuzzy processing times and fuzzy due dates with triangular possibility distributions are the main constraints of this model. An open shop scheduling problem with these considerations is close to the real production scheduling conditions.     Type-2 fuzzy sets are generalisations of ordinary fuzzy sets in which the membership grades are characterised by fuzzy membership functions. Here, we consider the problem of finding the distance between two interval type-2 fuzzy sets (IT2-FSs). We define the formulation of calculating the distance between two IT2-FSs based on a new definition of centroid for an IT2-FS and explain an algorithm for obtaining it. Here, we use interval type-2 fuzzy values to show the decision makers' preferences and also introduce a new formula to compute the distance between two interval type-2 fuzzy sets.     The problem of finding the expected shortest path in stochastic networks, where the presence of each node is probabilistic and the arc lengths are random variables, have numerous applications, especially in communication networks. The problem being NP-hard we use an ant colony system (ACS) to propose a metaheuristic algorithm for finding the expected shortest path.     Abstract
    We are concerned with the design of a model and an algorithm for computing the shortest path in a network having various types of fuzzy arc lengths. First, a new technique is devised for the addition of various fuzzy numbers in a path using α-cuts by proposing a least squares model to obtain membership functions for the considered additions. Due to the complexity of the addition of various fuzzy numbers for larger problems, a genetic algorithm is presented for finding the shortest path in the network.
