    , Article Letters in Organic Chemistry ; Volume 2, Issue 8 , 2005 , Pages 734-738 ; 15701786 (ISSN) Moghaddam, F. M ; Dekamin, M. G ; Koozehgari, G. R ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The catalytic activity of potassium salts of phthalimide (PPI) and succinimide (PSI), as organonucleophilic catalysts, has been investigated for the cyclotrimerization of isocyanates under solvent-free conditions. PPI showed better catalytic activity in comparison with PSI. Diverse and challenging isocyanates afforded the respective symmetrical isocyanurates in good to quantitative yields in an atom economic reaction without any phase transfer catalyst. © 2005 Bentham Science Publishers Ltd

    Abstract
This paper presents the results of an analytical study on the dynamic characteristics of the Shaking Table facilities at Sharif University. This 3 degree of freedom shaking table is driven by 3 servo-control hydraulic actuators, and consists of a 12 ton, 4m×4m×0.6m steel deck. The main objective of this investigation is to identify the degree of flexibility of the deck, and its adverse effects in causing errors in the simulation of seismic effects on different structural specimens. Many frame specimens of different weights and configurations are subjected to seismic motions, and their responses are calculated using FE models. Some of these models were designed to account for eccentric...

    Abstract
Proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell performance is directly related to the bipolar plate design and their channels pattern. Power enhancements can be achieved by optimal design of the type, size, or patterns of the channels. It has been realized that the bipolar plate design has significant role on reactant transport as well as water management in a PEM Fuel cell. Present work concentrates on improvements in the fuel cell performance by optimization of flow-field design and channels configurations. A three-dimensional, multi-component numerical model of flow distribution based on Navier-Stokes equations using individual computer code is presented. The simulation results showed excellent...

    Abstract
We used a method to evaluate angular accuracy for air showers direction recorded by a pentagon array of scintillation detectors. This is achieved by using the coincidences between the air showers recorded by the two sub-arrays. Also, using the CORSIKA code the angular precision of this array and the effect of inherent error on it is obtained at different energies of the primary particles and at different zenith angles. © 2020 Elsevier B.V

    Abstract
4H-chromenes play a significant role in natural and pharmacological products. Despite continuous advances in the synthesis methodology of these compounds, there is still a lack of a green and efficient method. In this study, we have designed cysteic acid chemically attached to magnetic graphene oxide (MNPs·GO-CysA) as an efficient and reusable solid acid catalyst to synthesize 4H-chromene skeletons via a one-pot three components reaction of an enolizable compound, malononitrile, an aldehyde or isatin, and a mixture of water–ethanol as a green solvent. This new heterogeneous catalyst provides desired products with a good to excellent yield, short time, and mild condition. This procedure...

    Abstract
In this study, high-vanadium austenitic manganese steel (HV-AMS) alloys and the standard Hadfield steel were investigated. The microstructure of these high-vanadium alloyed Hadfield steels was studied thoroughly using optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) and was compared to the Hadfield steel. The hardness and unnotched Charpy impact strength of HV-AMS alloys and Hadfield steel were examined at ambient temperature in the as-cast and heat-treated conditions. A pin-on-disk wear test at linear speed of 10. m/min and a 55. N normal load was employed to evaluate the wear behavior of both steel samples. Microstructural results showed that varying...

    Abstract
Predicting the effective elastic properties of carbon nanotube-reinforced nanocomposites is of great interest to many structural designers and engineers for improving material and configuration design in recent years. In this paper, a finite element model of a CNT composite has been developed using the Representative volume element (RVE) to evaluate the effective material properties of nanocomposites. Based on this model, the effects of geometrical characteristics such as the aspect ratio, orientation and volume fraction of the CNTs in conjunction with the interphase behavior on the mechanical properties of the nanocomposites are elucidated and the elastic properties of a complex polymeric...

    Abstract
Sport video shot classification is a basic step in the sport video processing. For many purposes such as event detection and summarization, shot classification is needed for content filtering. In this paper, we present a new method for soccer video shot classification. At first, in-field and out-of-field frames are separated. In in-field frames three features based on number of connected components and shirt color percent in vertical and horizontal strips are extracted. The features are all new and showed excellent discrimination in the feature space. These features are given to SVM for classifying long, medium and close-up shots. One of the advantages of our method is that, close-ups can be...

Cross-layer rateless coding over wireless relay networks

    , Article IWCMC 2011 - 7th International Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing Conference, 4 July 2011 through 8 July 2011 ; July , 2011 , Pages 1545-1549 ; 9781424495399 (ISBN) Shirvani Moghaddam, M ; Khalaj, B. H ; Pasandshanjani, E ; Sharif University of Technology
    2011
    Abstract
The focus of the paper is on cross-layer transmission based on rateless coding for relay networks. In the proposed method, rateless coding is used at the packet level and a separate physical layer coding is used at the physical layer. As rateless codes are originally designed and optimized for erasure channels, using these codes at the physical layer can lead to significant performance degradation. The proposed scheme has the advantage of a cross-layer design which uses a rateless code at the packet level modeled by an erasure channel. Based on the analysis and simulation results provided in this paper, the cross-layer scheme results in earlier successful decoding at the destination
