    Abstract
    Developing a transient fully-meshed model of coupled-domain microsystems is of paramount importance not only for accurate simulation and design but also for creating more accurate low-order or macro dynamic models. So in this paper, a complete nonlinear finite element model for coupled-domain MEMS devices considering electrostatic and squeeze film effects is presented. For this purpose, we use the Galerkin weighted-residual technique for developing the finite element model that capture the original microsystem's nonlinear behaviors, such as the structural dynamics, the squeeze-film damping, the electrostatic actuation and the geometric nonlinearity caused by inherent residual stresses.     Abstract
    The present study dealt with the mechanism of competitive adsorption of Sb(III) and Fe(II) ions from a copper-containing aqueous solution on Purolite S957, a commercially available cationic ion-exchange adsorbent. Experiments were conducted using aqueous copper sulfate solutions containing either single or conjoint ions, using both sedentary and batch adsorption techniques to ascertain the sensitivity of the adsorption process to variation in pH, mass of resin, contact time, and temperature as well as establishing the optimal range of variables for maximum ion removal.     Abstract
    Magnetic nanofiber cellulose (NFC) was selected as a biopolymer surface for the reaction with ferric metformin and a novel nanocatalyst was prepared. This green heterogeneous organometallic catalyst was analyzed by physiochemical techniques. The new metformin drug complex supported on magnetic NFC was used as a powerful and efficient catalyst for the synthesis of functionalized 4H-pyrans derivatives. The antimicrobial activity of the products showed excellent activity against all the bacterial and fungal strains (especially compounds 7q and 6r). © 2022 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC

    Abstract
    The left-hand side of the auroral hiss emission observed by Galileo has a frequency time profile shaped very similar to the funnel shape observed in the Earth's auroral region. This close similarity indicates that we can use the theory of whistler-mode propagation near the resonance cone to locate the emission source. The general characteristics of the whistler mode are discussed. Then the position of the emission source is investigated using a geometrical method that takes into account the trajectory of Galileo.     Abstract
    We investigate the effect of wall roughness on water electrolyte transport characteristics at different temperatures through carbon nanotubes by using nonequilibrium molecular dynamics simulations. Our results reveal that shearing stress and the nominal viscosity increase with ion concentration in corrugated carbon nanotubes (CNTs), in contrast to cases in smooth CNTs. Also, the temperature increase leads to the reduction of shearing stress and the nominal viscosity at moderate degrees of wall roughness. At high degrees of wall roughness, the temperature increase will enhance radial movements and increases resistance against fluid motion. As the fluid velocity increases, the particles do not...

    Abstract
    In this paper we consider the Bak, Tang, and Wiesenfeld (BTW) sand-pile model with local violation of conservation through annealed and quenched disorder. We have observed that the probability distribution functions of avalanches have two distinct exponents, one of which is associated with the usual BTW model and another one which we propose to belong to a new fixed point; that is, a crossover from the original BTW fixed point to a new fixed point is observed. Through field theoretic calculations, we show that such a perturbation is relevant and takes the system to a new fixed point

    Abstract
    In this paper we investigate the effect of the number of dissipative sites in an Abelian sandpile model. The dissipative sites are considered to be in the bulk rather than in the boundary. In such systems, statistics of avalanches smaller than a certain size obey a power law. We have seen that the exponents associated with these power law behaviors change slightly as the number of dissipative sites is decreased. We have found that the zero dissipation limits of these exponents are independent of size. Therefore we suggest that the previously-seen dependence of the exponent on the system size is because of the number of dissipative sites rather than the system size. Also it is observed that...

    Abstract
    In this report the important factors affecting the levitation melting of nickel are discussed. The relationship between the temperature of a levitated sample to factors such as coil design, gas flow rate, power input, and sample weight are studied. Different coil designs were investigated and compared. It was found that for satisfactory sustained levitation melting, the sample weight, depending on the material, must be within a particular range. Furthermore, increasing the power input would result in a decrease in the droplet temperature; and increasing the weight of the sample results in an increase in the temperature.     Abstract
    In this study, influences of intermolecular forces on dynamic pull-in instability of electrostatically actuated beams are investigated. Effects of midplane stretching, electrostatic actuation, fringing fields and intermolecular forces are considered. The boundary conditions of the beams are clamped-free and clamped-clamped. A finite element model is developed to discretize the governing equations and Newmark time discretization is then employed to solve the discretized equations. The results indicate that by increasing the Casimir and van der Waals effects, the effect of inertia on pull-in values considerably increases

    In this study, homotopy analysis method is used to derive analytic solutions to predict dynamic pull-in instability of electrostatically-actuated microsystems. The model considers midplane stretching, initial stress, distributed electrostatic force and fringing fields effect.     A controversial issue in artificial intelligence is human emotion recognition. This paper presents a fuzzy parallel cascades (FPC) model for predicting the continuous subjective emotional appraisal of music by time-varying spectral content of electroencephalogram (EEG) signals. The EEG, along with an emotional appraisal of 15 subjects, was recorded during listening to seven musical excerpts. The emotional appraisement was recorded along the valence and arousal emotional axes as a continuous signal.     In the present paper we investigate the problem of water propagation in 2 dimensional (2D) petroleum reservoir in which each site has the probability p of being occupied. We first analyze this propagation pattern described by Darcy equations by focusing on its geometrical features. We find that the domain-walls of this model at p=pc ≃ 0.59 are Schramm-Loewner evolution (SLE) curves with κ=3.05 ∓ 0.1 consistent with the Ising universality class. We also numerically show that the fractal dimension of these domain-walls at p=pc is Df ≃ 1.38 consistent with SLEκ=3.     We study logarithmic conformal field theories (LCFTs) through the introduction of nilpotent conformal weights. Using this device, we derive the properties of LCFTs such as the transformation laws, singular vectors and the structure of correlation functions.     Abstract
    We propose a general framework for deriving the OPEs within a logarithmic conformal field theory (LCFT). This naturally leads to the emergence of a logarithmetic partner of the energy momentum tensor within an LCFTand implies that the current algebra associated with an LCFT is expanded. We derive this algebra for a generic LCFTand discuss some of its implications. We observe that two constants arise in the OPE of the energy-momentum tensor with itself. One of these is the usual central charge
