Cooperative supply chain management using a grid-based optimizer

    , Article Proceedings - 2010 IEEE 17th International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management, IE and EM2010, 29 October 2010 through 31 October 2010 ; October , 2010 , Pages 1300-1305 ; 9781424464814 (ISBN) Sepehri, M ; Najmi, M ; Fayazbakhsh, K ; Sharif University of Technology
    2010
    Abstract
A cooperative supply chain seeks to coordinate its members to produce and distribute products along the chain, for minimum overall costs to satisfy customer demand. An integrated multi-period, multiple product and multiple stage supply chain is formulated using a flow networks framework. A Cooperative Supply Chain Optimizer (CSCO), as a central software entity taking advantage of Grid technology, connects and gathers necessary operational information from members of the corporate supply chain. The CSCO then guides supply chain members on ordering decisions, for a minimum overall cost of the entire supply chain, while continuously re-directing the members as new data becomes available. The...

The extent of EFQM effectiveness in routine and non-routine organizations based on multivariate techniques: an empirical study

    , Article Operational Research ; 2016 , Pages 1-31 ; 11092858 (ISSN) Bagheri, F ; Noorossana, R ; Najmi, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Springer Verlag  2016
    Abstract
Despite the fact that a variety of analyses are conducted based on the performance of business excellence models according to organization type such as ownership, size and etc., the performance of organizations based on the factor of being routine or non-routine has not been investigated yet. In this paper, implementation of the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) model for these types of organizations (routine and non-routine) has been examined. In order to do that, first we have developed a methodology to classify organizations into routine and non-routine categories. Then we have used discriminant analysis based on three factors, including process uncertainty, knowledge...

Consumers' engagement with social media activation campaigns: Construct conceptualization and scale development

    , Article Psychology and Marketing ; Volume 36, Issue 4 , 2019 , Pages 376-394 ; 07426046 (ISSN) Mirbagheri, S ; Najmi, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Wiley-Liss Inc  2019
    Abstract
This study conceptualizes the consumers' engagement with social media activation campaigns, which are important tools in improving the interactions between brands and consumers. We offer a comprehensive definition of this construct and discuss the nature and dimensionality of it. Further, this paper reports the development and validation of a 12-item scale for measuring the aforementioned construct. This scale development process comprises four studies. Study 1 begins by generating a pool of items and then employs both a panel of experts and some Instagram users to examine the content validity of the items. To validate the scale, this paper carries out several online surveys in subsequent...

An empirical study of firms absorptive capacity dimensions, supplier involvement and new product development performance

    , Article International Journal of Production Research ; Volume 51, Issue 11 , 2013 , Pages 3385-3403 ; 00207543 (ISSN) Najafi Tavani, S ; Sharifi, H ; Soleimanof, S ; Najmi, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2013
    Abstract
Firms performance in their new product development (NPD) is believed to be positively related with involving suppliers in the process of new product development, and also with the organisations capacity and capability to absorb external and internal knowledge, namely absorptive capacity (AC). Addressing a gap in the literature, this study adopts the definition and structure for AC suggested by Tu et al. (2006) to examine relationships between ACs sub-dimensions with NPD performance, and also their moderating effects on the relationship between supplier involvement and new product development performance, on both financial and nonfinancial aspects. Data from a survey of 161 manufacturing...

Holistic performance management of virtual teams in third-party logistics environments

    , Article Team Performance Management ; Volume 24, Issue 3-4 , 2018 , Pages 186-202 ; 13527592 (ISSN) Eaidgah, Y ; Abdekhodaee, A ; Najmi, M ; Arab Maki, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Emerald Group Publishing Ltd  2018
    Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to investigate the use of an integrated approach for performance improvement of virtual teams (VTs) in third-party logistics (3PL) through the integration of performance management (PM), visual management (VM) and continuous improvement (CI) initiatives into one coherent system. The paper will also propose a methodological framework to establish such a system. The intended integrated system is called as integrated visual management (IVM) throughout this paper. Design/methodology/approach: This research is based on a case study that took place in a 3PL context with 19 VTs of different sizes spread across Australia. Many major 3PL companies provide their...

Relationship among culture of excellence, organisational performance and knowledge sharing: Proposed conceptual framework

    , Article International Journal of Productivity and Quality Management ; Volume 19, Issue 4 , 2016 , Pages 446-465 ; 17466474 (ISSN) Rezaei, G ; Gholami, H ; Shaharou, A. B. M ; Zameri Mat Saman , M ; Zakuan, N ; Najmi, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In today's competitive market, culture of excellence (CoE) and knowledge sharing (KS) are vital factors for organisations to thrive in the ever-expanding global market-economy. However, most previous studies have paid less attention to CoE especially in developing countries. In addition, they gave less attention to KS as a mediator in the CoE performance model. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship among CoE, KS, and organisational performance (OP) in the sector of industrial companies in Iran, and to develop a conceptual framework based on extensive review of the literature. Based on a review of the literature, a link was established between CoE and OP. Furthermore,...

Relationship between culture of excellence and organisational performance in Iranian manufacturing companies

    Abstract
High-performing organisations are those which practise exemplary Culture of Excellence (CoE). Global competition dictates that only high-performing organisations will survive in the long term. This study attempts to focus on the relationship between CoE constructs and organisational performance (OP) in the context of Iranian manufacturing sector. Data are gathered via survey, of 222 excellence award-winning companies in Iran. The SPSS and smartPLS were used to test the relationship between CoE factors and OP. The result of correlation analysis proved that all 10 CoE constructs were significantly correlated with OP and there exists a significant relationship between CoE and OP. Strong...

    Abstract
This article build upon fairness in pricing -i.e. a perceived fairness judgment by a buyer of a seller's prices (Haws and Bearden, 2006) - and dynamic pricing - a strategy in which prices vary over time, consumers, and/or circumstances (Haws and Bearden, 2006) - an analysis of the importance of the factors influencing consumers' perception of fairness. Specifically, it uses fuzzy cognitive maps on the model proposed by Haws and Bearden (2006) to find the most important path leading to consumer satisfaction with the price. The FCM analyzes the responses of a group of 30 experts from 4 leading companies in medical equipment importing to find the most important paths
