The possibilities of palladium-catalyzed aromatic cyanation in aqueous media

    , Article Inorganic Chemistry Communications ; Volume 72 , 2016 , Pages 86-90 ; 13877003 (ISSN) Vafaeezadeh, M ; Mahmoodi Hashemi, M ; Karbalaie Reza, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Owing to the inherent incompatibility with water, cyanation of aryl halides may be the most challenging category of palladium-catalyzed coupling reactions. The major challenges are attributed to the catalyst deactivation by the soluble cyanide (CN−) ions and desirable conversions only could be obtained by employing toxic organic solvents. The current minireview highlights mechanistic insights and breakthrough achievements for this reaction in the aqueous media

FPGA-based fast detection with reduced sensor count for a fault-tolerant three-phase converter

    , Article IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics ; Volume 9, Issue 3 , 2013 , Pages 1343-1350 ; 15513203 (ISSN) Mahmoud, M ; Philippe, P ; Shahrokh, S ; Mohammad Reza, M. R ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Fast fault detection (FD) and reconfiguration is necessary for fault tolerant power electronic converters in safety critical applications to prevent further damage and to make the continuity of service possible. The aim of this study is to minimize the number of the used additional voltage sensors in a fault tolerant three-phase converter. In this paper, first a practical implementation of a very fast FD scheme with reduced sensor number is discussed. Then, an optimization in this scheme is also presented to decrease the detection time. For FD, special time and voltage criterion are applied to observe the error in the estimated phase-to-phase voltages for a specific period of time. The...

An extended distributed learning automata based algorithm for solving the community detection problem in social networks

    , Article 2017 25th Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering, ICEE 2017, 2 May 2017 through 4 May 2017 ; 2017 , Pages 1520-1526 ; 9781509059638 (ISBN) Ghamgosar, M ; Daliri Khomami, M. M ; Bagherpour, N ; Reza, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Due to unstoppable growth of social networks and the large number of users, the detection of communities have become one of the most popular and successful domain of research areas. Detecting communities is a significant aspect in analyzing networks because of its various applications such as sampling, link prediction and communications among members of social networks. There have been proposed many different algorithms for solving community detection problem containing optimization methods. In this paper we propose a novel algorithm based on extended distributed learning automata for solving this problem. Our proposed algorithm benefits from cooperation between learning automata to detect...

Surfactant-Like brønsted acidic ionic liquid as an efficient catalyst for selective mannich reaction and biodiesel production in water

    Abstract
Abstract: The current study deals with the applications of a surfactant-like Brønsted acidic ionic liquid (IL) 1-dodecyl-3-methylimidazolium hydrogen sulfate ([DMIm]HSO4) for Mannich reaction at room temperature. The reaction was efficiently preceded in water as solvent without using any harmful and expensive organic additives. Our findings showed that the reaction is selective for cyclohexanone and no Mannich product was observed when cyclopentanone was used as starting material. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were performed to provide an evidence about the nature of reactivity of the cyclohexanone/cyclopentanone. The activity of the catalyst was also tested for biodiesel...
