    Generalizability of trunk muscle EMG and spinal forces

    Abstract
    The generalizability of trunk muscle EMG and spinal loading estimates obtained from an EMG-assisted biomechanical model was assessed over three occasions and three repetitions. The greatest sources of variability consisted of the intersubject differences and the interaction between subject and occasion. The ID (reliability coefficient) was less for trunk muscle activity compared with estimates of anteroposterior shear force, compression force, and gain computed from the biomechanical model. In order to obtain an ID of 0.8, we recommend five testing occasions for submaximal EMG measurements and three testing occasions for biomechanical estimates.     Abstract
    In this paper, we describe a carbon dioxide mineralization process and its associated solid products. These solid products include amorphous silica, iron hydroxides and magnesium carbonates. These products were subjected to various characterization tests, and the results are published here. It was found that the iron hydroxides from this process can have different crystalline properties, and their formation depended very much on the pH of the reaction conditions. Different forms of magnesium carbonate were also obtained, and the type of carbonate precipitated was found to be dependent on the carbonation temperature.     Classic identifiability analysis of flow barriers in incompressible single-phase flow reveals that it is not possible to identify the location and permeability of low-permeability barriers from production data (wellbore pressures and rates), and that only averaged reservoir properties in between wells can be identified.     Abstract
    In the present study a finite difference method has been developed to model the transient fluid flow and heat transfer. A single fluid has been selected for modeling of mold filling and The SOLA-VOF 3D technique was modified to increase the accuracy of simulation of filling phenomena for shape castings. The model was then evaluated with the experimental methods. Refereeing to the experimental and simulation results a good consistency and the accuracy of the suggested model are confirmed. © 2005 Published by Elsevier B.V

    Distant, dusty and extremely luminous galaxies form a key component of the high redshift universe, tracing the period of intense cosmic activity that ultimately gave rise to the present-day universe. These highly luminous galaxies, first detected in the ground-based submillimeter region, are however optically very faint, which hampers identification of the optical counterpart and the measurement of a redshift.     A new inelastic mechanism, detwinning-induced plasticity (DIP), is proposed to model the response of NiTi SMAs to cyclic loading, based on thermodynamic considerations. DIP is incorporated into a constitutive framework for NiTi SMA. The constitutive framework also includes well-established inelastic mechanisms of phase transformation, transformation-induced plasticity, residual martensite, and detwinning.     Abstract
    In this research a mathematical model for controlled drug delivery of Ibuprofen has been developed which accounts for physical kinetics based upon variations of the drug concentration, size and release time for a spherical drug pill. Through this model, the drug release for three sizes of the active ingredient including; 213nm (representing existence of only diffusion limitations), 515nm (representing existence of only solubility limitations) and 367nm (representing both diffusion and solubility limitations) was calculated.     Phased array antennas are generally used for the inherent flexibility to beamforming and null-steering electronically. In the phased arrays the side lobes level (SLL) level is main problem which causes waste of energy or saturation of the receiver in the case of presence of the strong spatial blockers. In this paper, a weighting method was first used to reduce the level of SLL. However, this method increased the beam width and reduced resolution, which is not suitable for track applications.     Carbon dioxide sequestration by a pH-swing carbonation process was considered in this work. A multi-step aqueous process is described for the fractional precipitation of magnesium carbonate and other minerals in an aqueous system at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. With the aim to achieve higher purity and deliver more valuable mineral products, the process was split into four steps.     Consider a two-station, heterogeneous parallel queueing system in which each station operates as an independent M/M/1 queue with its own infinite-capacity buffer. The input to the system is a Poisson process that splits among the two stations according to a Bernoulli splitting mechanism.     In this study, a novel biodegradable hyaluronic acid (HA) based microgel were prepared via enzymatic crosslinking of tyramine conjugated HA (HA-TA) in an inverse microemulsion. HA-TA microdroplets were crosslinked within a few seconds in the presence of horseradish peroxidase (HRP) and hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ). The high water content of the polymeric network and the inherent negative charge of the HA-TA microgels provided a suitable platform for encapsulation of cationic proteins like lysozyme and TGF-β1 growth factor.     In this paper, we will present diversity gain analysis of a novel channel assignment scheme at the relay for the case in which two non-cooperative independent users communicate with their destination through a single relay and by using only two frequency channels. The analysis of two main relay techniques, namely the Amplify-and-Forward (AF) and Decode-and-Forward (DF) will be provided.
