Supply Chain Planning Considering Gray Markets

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Valizadeh khaki, Siavash (Author) ; Shavandi, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Nowadays diversion of products from authorized distribution channels to the gray markets has been considered by manufacturers. There many cases that the products of main industries are supplied through gray markets. Gray markets are divided into two categories. The first category is parallel imports where an unauthorized distributor or a third party imports the products from a low price market into a market with high price. In most researches of parallel importation it is assumed that a monopoly manufacturer distributes its products in both two markets. In the second category of parallel importation researches, it is assumed that the manufacturer distributes the products in a certain market...

    Abstract
Silver can inhibit bacterial activity. Previous studies showed that high concentration of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) in compared to its lower concentrations is toxic for human health. However, by decreasing concentration of AgNPs, antibacterial activity also decreases. In this study, we investigated synergistic inhibitory activity of the combination of AgNPs and garlic oil nanoemulsion (GONE) for increase antibacterial activity of AgNPs at lower concentrations. AgNPs and GONE with sizes of 30.7 and 19.3 nm were synthesized and prepared by chemical reduction and low energy method, respectively. Physicochemical properties of AgNPs and GONE were investigated. The minimum inhibitory...

Determination of austenite grain coarsening temperature of a Nb-microalloyed steel sheet

    , Article Advanced Materials Research, 21 January 2011 through 23 January 2011 ; Volume 213 , January , 2011 , Pages 600-603 ; 10226680 (ISSN) ; 9783037850619 (ISBN) Khaki, D. M ; Otaaghvar, V. A ; Khaki, M. M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Thermomechnical processing and controlled rolling of microalloyed steel sheets are affected by several factors according to the final properties of product. To create the high mechanical properties, a uniform and fine-grain structure is necessary in hot rolled final products. To produce such microstructures, every stage of the thermomechanical processing of the steel rolling has to be carefully controlled. Hence, first step is grain coarsening control that it usually occurs during reheating for slab. For this purpose, seven different reheating temperatures between 1000 to 1300 °C with 50 °C increments were chosen in this investigation for soaking treatment. By soaking the specimens in...

    Playing games with bounded entropy

    Abstract
We study zero-sum repeated games in which the maximizer (player or team) is restricted to strategies with limited randomness. Particularly, we analyze the maxmin payoff of the maximizer in two models: the first model forces the maximizer to randomize her actions just by conditioning them to the outcomes of an observed random source. In the second model, the maximizer is a team of players who are free to privately randomize their corresponding actions but do not have access to any explicit source of shared randomness needed for coordination. While prior works adopted the method of types to address these problems, we use the idea of random hashing being the core of randomness extractors. In...

    Playing games with bounded entropy

    Abstract
We study a two-player zero-sum game in which one of the players is restricted to mixed strategies with limited randomness. More precisely, we consider the maximum payoff that the maximizer (Alice) can secure with limited randomness h. This problem finds an operational interpretation in the context of repeated games with non-ideal sources of randomness. The computational aspects of this problem has not received much attention in the game theory literature. We begin by observing the equivalence of this problem with entropy minimization problems in other scientific contexts. Next, we provide two explicit lower bounds on the entropy-payoff tradeoff curve. To do this, we provide and utilize new...

Design and Making of Piezoelectric-based Micro-airpump for Flow Control Application

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Valizadeh, Ali (Author) ; Ebrahimi, Abbas (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The importance of creating a fluid flow with accurate and controllable flow in many industries is undeniable. There are several ways to create this type of flow, and a variety of pumps can be used to create such a flow. The presence of noise, limitations in reducing the flow rate (sometimes in some pumps the flow rate can not be reduced to a minimum), depreciation costs and many other limitations, reduce the attractiveness of using conventional pumps in some applications. The subject of this project is the design and construction of piezoelectric based micro-pumps to solve the above problems. In many applications, the need for fluid flow with very low flow and high quality and accuracy is...

Nonlinear Analysis of 3D Irregular concrete Structures by Endurance Time Method

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Khaki, Ali (Author) ; Esmaeil Pourestekanchi, Homayun (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The structure performances during past earthquakes indicate the importance of predicting behaviors of irregular structures under earthquakes. If the irregularity exceeds an expected limit, a seismic analysis should be carried out by a dynamic analysis method. The Endurance Time (ET) is a time-history method, base on dynamic analysis for seismic analyzing and designing the structures, in which structures are subjected to intensifying accelerogram functions and their Endurance Time is measured. One of the most applicable methods for RCF analysis is the Concentrated Hinge Model which is used in this research too. The needed parameters for modeling plasticity in concentrated hinge are achieved...

    P - Adic L Functions

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Sanjari, Ali (Author) ; Shahshahani, Siavash (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Using interpolation and starting with Bernoulli numbers, posed by Leopold and Kubota, the aspect of adic function was constructed as adic analogues of the Dirichlet functions.Studing Galois module theory of ideal class group and his favorite structure extensions and modules related to them,Iwasawa found a new method for constructing adic functions by using Stickelberger’s elements. These results wich established by Iwasawa are known as Iwasawa Theory and they have many application in Algebriac Number Theory. Iwasawa’s most remarkable disconvry is the facet that at least in some important cases, there is a similar deep algebraic and analytic dichotomy in arithmetic of extensions. A...

The Evolution of a Geometric Space in in the Nineteenth Century

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Karimi, Ehsan (Author) ; Shahshahani, Siavash (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The meaning and the nature of space and it’s essential properties seems to be one of the oldest problems which has been continuing to occupy human’s mind during centuries. It can be counted as a common ground between philosophy, mathematics, physics and even art. However this thesis concentrates on the philosophical and mathematical attitudes, neglecting the other aspects of the issue. Prima facie, it appears that the concept of space is essentially mingled with geometry, the science which seems to investigate the essentials of space. Taking it for granted, Kant regarded space, and so Euclidean geometry which dominates it, as an indispensible and necessary structure of the human’s mind....

    Abstract
Thermo mechanical processing and controlled rolling of microalloyed steel sheets are affected by several factors. In this investigation, finishing temperature of rolling which is considered as the most effective parameters on the final mechanical properties of hot rolled products has been studied. For this purpose, three different finishing temperatures of 950, 900 and 850 °C below the non-recrystallization temperature and one temperature of 800 °C in the intercritical range were chosen. It is observed that decreasing the finishing temperature causes increase of strength and decrease of total elongation. This is accompanied by more grain refinement of microstructure and the morphology was...

    Abstract
Nowadays, diversion of products distribution from authorised channels to the gray markets is one of the main challenges of manufacturers. Suppose an international supplier distributes the products in several countries with different prices. In parallel importation, there are unauthorised distributers who supply products with a lower price and import them to a higher price market. The problem of parallel importation considering a manufacturer and a competitor is analysed using the game theory approach in this article. We investigate the pricing strategy for manufacturers and the effect of unauthorised distributer on price, market share and profit. We also investigate the performance of...
