    The problem of restoring power systems after a complete or partial blackout is as old as the power industry itself. In recent years, due to economic competition and deregulation, power systems are operated closer and closer to their limits. At the same time, power systems have increased in size and complexity. Both factors increase the risk of major power outages. After a blackout, power needs to be restored as quickly and reliably as possible, and consequently, detailed restoration plants are necessary.     Silver is a resistant metal against the oxidation under normal atmospheric conditions, but it reacts readily with sulfur bearing species in the environment and corrodes. Alloying silver with more noble elements, such as Palladium, is a promising approach for increasing corrosion resistance against the sulfur pollutants. The purpose of this research is to develop a plating bath for deposition of Silver-Palladium alloy with acceptable appearance and higher corrosion resistance than pure silver. The MIDA method is an incremental static analysis that considers higher modes of the structure.     In this study a Monte Carlo simulation was used to investigate the effect of cell reactivities and particle diffusivities in the cells and matrix on the diffusion and reaction rate constants in gel-immobilized cell systems with different spatial cell configurations. A variety of conditions were examined ranging from instantaneous to very slow reactions with reaction probabilities equal to or less than one, and diffusivity ratios bigger or smaller than one in a spherical domain.     In this study the effect of deposition temperature and thickness on the physical properties of carbon films deposited by magnetron sputtering PVD was investigated. The results of Raman spectra and grazing incidence XRD (GIXRD) patterns show that the graphitization increases by increasing the deposition temperature. There is a change in deposition mechanism at 400 °C from amorphous carbon deposition to nano-structured graphite deposition.     In many casting experiments, a well is used in the bottom of downsprue, which causes smooth flow in the runner. When the well is not properly designed, sand erosion happens in the runner and some oxide films and gaseous trap within the melt. The main aim of this study was to determine the presence of B19, its association with increased inflammation in thyroid tissue, and thus its possible role in thyroid cancer progression.
