    Crosstalk suppression and high-fidelity measurement in 2-D tunneling of coupled Josephson junctions

    Abstract
    We present a new configuration concept in which two similar Josephson junctions are coupled through a capacitor placed in parallel to a dc-superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) to improve the characteristics of phase qubits. In real coupled quantum systems, because of mutual effects such as crosstalk, entangled quantum states cannot be independently measured. The proposed two-qubit system is demonstrated to have a negligible crosstalk, obtained from the application of a single measurement pulse and an appropriate external flux to one of the junctions and the dc-SQUID, respectively. Surprisingly, the theoretically predicted fidelity for a single-qubit design increases to 99.99%...

    Abstract
    Switching time limitations of the ac bias current of Josephson junctions in bidirectional rapid single flux quantum (RSFQ) logic circuits are investigated in order to determine the limits to the maximum possible operating frequency. We introduce a new approach based on modifying the bias current parameters and determining the inductance values in the circuit for reducing the switching transition time of the bias current through the junctions. We have simulated and optimized the timing and the operation of the bidirectional nondestructive readout and Josephson transmission line cells in this respect to demonstrate the results of utilizing the proposed approach.     Abstract
    We have performed a numerical solution for band structure of an Abrikosov vortex lattice in type-II superconductors forming a periodic array in two dimensions for applications of incorporating the photonic crystals concept into superconducting materials with possibilities for optical electronics. The implemented numerical method is based on the extensive numerical solution of the Ginzburg-Landau equation for calculating the parameters of the two-fluid model and obtaining the band structure from the permittivity, which depends on the above parameters and the frequency.     Abstract
    Considering the two main categories of rapid single flux quantum gates with destructive and nondestructive readout process, we have investigated the effects of readout cell topology and involved critical parameters on the proper functionality and stability of the states of the newly developed bidirectional T flip-flops (TFFs). It is observed that instabilities and fluctuations in the state of the gate (memory of TFF) after each transition determine the minimum time intervals between the clock pulses set by the ac bias current, further limiting the ultimate operation frequency of the circuits.     Abstract
    We have investigated various geometrical design dependencies for rapid single-flux-quantum (RSFQ) circuits in high- Tc superconductors (HTS) technology, including the characteristics of the intermediate inductances. Structural- and temporal-dependent combinations of Cn - Rn (capacitance and normal resistance of the Josephson junctions, JJs) in the HTS technology are also investigated.     Abstract
    A terahertz modulator based on the Type-II superconductor flux flow oscillator has been proposed. Analytical calculations are presented and the effects of intrinsic and extrinsic parameters such as disorder strength of crystal, penetration depth, frequency, and amplitude of the modulated current on the radiation power spectrum have been studied. The proposed structure also exhibits a mixer-like behavior, in the sense that its output harmonics range from the washboard frequency up to the superconductor gap frequency, so the input signal is practically mixed with the washboard frequency and its harmonics.
