Abstract
A combination of solid acids, including Oxone®, HIO3, H 5IO6, and polystyrenesulfonic acid and sodium nitrite, in the presence of wet SiO2 were used as an effective oxidizing agents for the oxidation of dihydropyridines to their corresponding pyridine derivatives under mild and heterogeneous conditions in good to excellent yields

Abstract
Various alkyl, aryl, and heterocyclic Hantzsch 1,4-dihydropyridines were converted to the corresponding pyridines in excellent yields and short times using sodium nitrite in the presence of a catalytic amount of acidic silica gel at room temperature. © Springer-Verlag 2006

Abstract
A one-pot four-component reaction of aldehydes, ethyl acetoacetate/5,5-dimethyl-1,3-cyclohexanedione, ethyl acetoacetate and ammonium acetate in the presence of 10 mol% of ZnO as a heterogeneous catalyst for the synthesis of corresponding 1,4-dihydropyridine and polyhydroquinoline derivatives via the Hantzsch condensation is described. The present methodology offers several advantages such as simple procedure, excellent yields, and short reaction time

Abstract
Hydrogen peroxide readily oxidizes Hantzsch type 1,4-dihydropyridines in the presence of cobalt(II) acetate as catalyst at room temperature. No evidence of a dealkylation process for 4-alkyl 1,4-dihydropyridines has been observed
