    , Article Electrocatalysis ; Volume 2, Issue 3 , Volume 2, Issue 3 , 2011 , Pages 163-171 ; 18682529 (ISSN) Jafarian, M ; Rashvand avei, M ; Gobal, F ; Rayati, S ; Mahjani, M. G ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Complexes of Ni II-(N,N′-bis(2-hydroxy, 3-methoxy benzaldehyde)-1,2-propandiimine) can be electro-polymerized onto GC electrode in an alkaline solution to give an electro-active film strongly adhered on the electrode surface. In alkaline solution, this poly-(Ni II{sal-1,2-pn(3-OMe) 2})/GC film shows the typical voltammetric response of a surface-immobilized redox couple, as can be anticipated for the Ni 2+/Ni 3+ transitions into the film. In addition, the film exhibits a potent and persistent electro-catalytic activity towards the oxidation of 1- and 2-propanol. In CV studies, in the presence of these alcohols, poly-(Ni II{sal-1,2-pn(3-OMe) 2})/GC electrode shows a new oxidation peak for the...

    Abstract
Purpose. Variable-Temperature Kinetics has been used to obtain the rate constants of the reaction at various temperatures during one kinetic run. Methods. Pseudo-first-order rate constants for the transesterification of procaine with aliphatic alcohols ethanol, n-propanol and tert-butanol were obtained by the fluorescence spectroscopy using the variable-temperature kinetics (VTK) method. Results. The activation parameters of the reactions were calculated (24-28 kcal.mol-1). The half-life of the procaine decreases in the ethanol solution compared with the other alcoholic solutions in the presence of sodium ethoxide. Conclusions. The investigation time of the reactions is reduced to one-tenth...

Developing a feed forward multilayer neural network model for prediction of CO2 solubility in blended aqueous amine solutions

    , Article Journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering ; Volume 21 , November , 2014 , Pages 19-25 ; ISSN: 18755100 Hamzehie, M. E ; Mazinani, S ; Davardoost, F ; Mokhtare, A ; Najibi, H ; Van der Bruggen, B ; Darvishmanesh, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Absorption of carbon dioxide (CO2) in aqueous solutions can be improved by the addition of other compounds. However, this requires a large amount of equilibrium data for solubility estimation in a wide ranges of temperature, pressure and concentration. In this paper, a model based on an artificial neural network (ANN) was proposed and developed with mixtures containing monoethanolamine (MEA), diethanolamine (DEA), methyldiethanolamine (MDEA), 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol (AMP), methanol, triethanolamine (TEA), piperazine (PZ), diisopropanolamine (DIPA) and tetramethylensulfone (TMS) to predict solubility of CO2 in mixed aqueous solution (especially in binary and ternary mixtures) over wide...

On the estimation of viscosities and densities of CO2-loaded MDEA, MDEA + AMP, MDEA + DIPA, MDEA + MEA, and MDEA + DEA aqueous solutions

    Abstract
As noteworthy properties of amine aqueous solutions, the densities and viscosities of aqueous N-Methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) solutions and mixtures of MDEA with 2-Amino-2-methyl-1-propanol (AMP), Diisopropanolamine (DIPA), Monoethanolamine (MEA), and Diethanolamine (DEA) were estimated under CO2 gas loading using Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS), Multi-Layer Perceptron Artificial Neural Network (MLPANN), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Least Square Support Vector Machine (LSSVM). The density and viscosity were estimated as a function of temperature, CO2 loading, pressure, and molecular weight of mixtures. In this regard, the actual data points were collected from the...

A comparative study of the electrooxidation of C1 to C3 aliphatic alcohols on Ni modified graphite electrode

    , Article Science China Chemistry ; Volume 55, Issue 9 , 2012 , Pages 1819-1824 ; 16747291 (ISSN) Jafarian, M ; Mirzapoor, A ; Danaee, I ; Shahnazi, S. A. A ; Gobal, F ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Nickel modified graphite electrodes (G/Ni) prepared by galvanostatic deposition were examined for their redox process and electrocatalytic activities towards the oxidation of methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol and 2-propanol in alkaline solutions. The methods of cyclic voltammetry (CV), chronoamperometry (CA) and impedance spectroscopy (EIS) were employed. In CV studies, the electrochemical response, peak current varied in the order of MeOH > EtOH > 1-PrOH > 2-PrOH. Under the CA regime, a higher catalytic rate constant obtained for methanol oxidation was in agreement with CV measurements. Lower charge transfer resistance was obtained for low carbon alcohols oxidation and significantly higher...
