    An improved upper bound on dilation of regular polygons

    Abstract
    Dilation of a set of points on the plane is the lowest possible dilation of a plane spanner on the point set. We show that dilation of vertices of any regular polygon is less than 1.4482. We introduce a method for constructing a triangulation of a regular polygon and prove this bound on its dilation. The upper bound on dilation is shown using mathematical proofs and experimental results. The new upper bound improves the previously known bound of 1.48454. © 2019 Elsevier B.V

    The three-dimensional split-field finite-difference time-domain (SF-FDTD) method is combined with the totalfield- scattered-field method for injecting a plane wave. A formulation is derived for calculating the incidence transformed fields of SF-FDTD on a one-dimensional auxiliary grid. The resulting fields obtained in the scattered zone are used to calculate the far fields, based on a proposed fully time-domain near-to-far-field transformation. The far-field information is used to calculate the extinction cross section of the periodic structure under oblique incidence.     Recent development in technology and improvement of manufacturing tools have accelerated the use of microrobots (MRs) in numerous areas such as micro sensing and medical applications. The ability to control multiple MRs simultaneously and independently could lead to higher performance, and even make new applications possible. In this paper, we have proposed a system for simultaneous and independent control of the position of multiple MRs in a plane.     Abstract
    Extensive wind tunnel tests were performed on several wing- body-tail combinations in subsonic flow to study the effects of wing geometric parameters on the flow field over the tail. For each configuration, tail surface pressure distribution, as well as the velocity contour at a plane perpendicular to the flow direction behind the wing was measured. The results show a strong effect of wing to tail span ratio, as well as wing aspect ratio, on the flowfield downstream of the wing. For low sweep wings, as those considered here, wing and body interference effects on the tail are associated with the wing tip vortex and nose-body vortex

    It is generally accepted that a hydraulically induced fracture in the reservoir is approximately a plane fracture perpendicular to the direction of the in situ minor principal stress. However, field observations, in some cases, do not support the above traditional assumption.
