Single-Channel Speech Dereverberation in Noisy Acoustical Environments
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Ghorshi, Mohammad Ali (Supervisor)
Abstract
In speech processing, reflections of sound wave in a bounded space are considered as speech reverberation. Although for musical instruments and their related recording devices these reflections are useful, however, some other applications face serious problems receiving them along with speech signal. Reverberation causes speech degradation and intelligibility as well as highly quality reduction. Dereverberation algorithms are essential for Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), telecommunication and hearing aid devices, which are some of the mostly used applications. While dereverberation itself is a challenging problem, dereverberate a speech signal recorded only by one microphone (channel)...

Abstract
Reverberated speech signals in noisy acoustical environments cause some problems such as reducing speech intelligibility, distinguishing speakers, locating source, quality for hands-free telephony, hearing aid, etc. Adaptive filters can be applied to suppress the interfering signals and reduce the reverberation effects or to dereverberate the received speech signals at microphone. In this paper, Bayesian State-Space Kalman and Wiener filters have been employed to reduce the effect of noise on received speech signal and their results are compared. Also, a dereverberation method is proposed by applying an inverse filter to the received speech signals to reduce the effect of reverberation on...

Abstract
By development of ocean exploration, autonomous vehicles are employed to perform on-water and underwater tasks. Using an extended Kalman filter, Inertial Navigation System/Doppler Velocity Log (INS/DVL) integrated systems are trying to navigate in oceans and underwater environments when Global Positioning System (GPS) signals are not accessible. The dependency of DVL signals on acoustic environments may cause any DVL malfunction due to sea creatures or strong wave-absorbing material. In this paper, an improved version of evolutionary TS-fuzzy (eTS) is proposed in order to predict DVL sensor outputs at DVL malfunction moment, by utilizing an artificial intelligent (AI) aided integrated...
