    A method for noise reduction in active-rc circuits

    Abstract
    A method for noise reduction in active-$RC$ circuits is introduced. It is shown that the output noise in an active-$RC$ circuit can be considerably reduced, without disturbing the circuit transfer function by inserting appropriate passive or active components in the circuit. The inserted components introduce new signal paths in the circuit for noise reduction while the original circuit transfer function is kept unchanged. The procedure to define the proper paths in the circuit and their transfer functions is given. The effectiveness of the presented method is demonstrated using a second-order active-RC filter fabricated in a 0.18-$ {m}$ CMOS technology

    Abstract
    The conventional delay-line discriminator method for phase noise measurement is modified to achieve better sensitivity. In the proposed technique, to decrease delay-line loss, the under-test oscillator's microwave frequency is down-converted by another oscillator, and delay-line is implemented in the IF range. Full validation of the technique is presented. In adition, we experimentally demonstrate that system sensitivity is considerably improved compared to the conventional method

    Abstract
    This paper presents application of high-Q cavity resonator in phase-shifter less technique. A mathematical analysis is presented to show the dependency of the measured phase noise in terms of loaded quality factor and resonance frequency of the high-Q cavity resonator. Experimental measurements resulted from different methods for a synthesized oscillator at 9.976 GHz show great validity and accuracy of the proposed technique. This technique needs no tuning for the phase-shifter and can introduce better sensitivity compared to the setup that uses a delay-line as a frequency discriminator element due to much lower insertion loss particularly at high carrier frequencies.     Abstract
    This paper utilizes IJA stochastic learning automaton for detecting noise and tuning value of alpha parameter which is used for image sharpening via gas diffusion model. The method has been applied to gray-scale images in an automatic and adaptive fashion. It is shown that the IJA automaton detects noise and can reform it appropriately. It glides the image to find the pattern of noise and replace it by the relevant characteristics of neighborhood to carry out the local restoration.     Noise reduction is a major concern in digital image processing systems, which have been investigated by several techniques. One kind of important noises in images is known as Salt & Pepper, which may have different causes. In this paper a new approach for eliminating this type of noise is presented. The approach is different from all previous works in this field, and is based on classification. More precisely, it tries to classify pixels of an image to one of two categories: noisy or not noisy.     The noise level of the magnetometer and gradiometer RF SQUIDs were investigated using different shielding methods. The used methods include different active and passive shielding, such as Helmholtz configurations, locally compensation coils, superconducting bulks and μ-metal shields. For the passive shielding approach, using FEM simulation we have investigated the shielding effectiveness of superconducting bulks versus the use of μ-metal shielding.     In this paper, a modified method based on the frequency discriminator technique for measuring phase noise of microwave oscillators is presented. In the proposed method, the phase shifter is omitted. In contrast, a 90° hybrid with one more channel containing a phase detector, and a low-noise amplifier is added to the measurement setup. It can be said that an in-phase/quadrature phase-noise detection has been developed. With the proposed method, tuning of the variable phase shifter is not needed anymore.     This paper focuses on localizing acoustic source using fuzzy logic. For this purpose, an array of microphones are used as sensors. The Time Delay Estimation (TDE) is performed by correlation between received signals from each pair of microphones. In this paper, instead of assuming a crisp value as a TDOA, we introduce fuzzy number of TDOA in which the absolute value of the cross correlation function is normalized and then assumed as TDOA membership function for each pair of microphones.     Abstract
    Here we present an approach for processing neural cells images to analyze their growth process in culture environment. We have applied several image processing techniques for: 1- Environmental noise reduction, 2- Neural cells segmentation, 3- Neural cells classification based on their dendrites' growth conditions, and 4- neurons' features Extraction and measurement (e.g., like cell body area, number of dendrites, axon's length, and so on).     Abstract
    Adaptive Noise Cancellation (ANC) is a well-known technique for background noise reduction in automobile and vehicular environments. The noise fields in automobile and other vehicle interior obey the diffuse noise field model closely. On the other hand, the ANC does not provide sufficient noise reduction in the diffuse noise fields. In this paper, a new multistage post-filter is designed for ANC as a solution to diffuse noise conditions. The designed post-filter is a single channel Linear Prediction (LP) based speech enhancement system.
