    Abstract
Photovoltaic (PV) panels provide a suitable way for the direct conversion of solar energy into electricity. The electrical output and efficiency of PV modules are dependent on working temperature. The present study contributes to investigate the efficiency of utilizing a flat plate closed-loop pulsating heat pipe (CLPHP) to cool down a PV panel in both thermal and economic aspects. Accordingly, a numerical investigation is employed to obtain the surface temperature and electrical gain of the PV panel through four scenarios, including natural cooling without additional equipment, CLPHP-based passive cooling, CLPHP-based active cooling, and a conventional flat plate cooling methods. The...

    Abstract
INS-DVL integration is a common method for underwater navigation. However, inherent errors of sensors, especially in MEMS IMUs, lead to inaccuracies in estimating the position and attitude. In this paper, dynamic motion model of AUV is used to improve MEMS INS-DVL navigation. In this method, which is called model-aided or model-based navigation, the information of the kinetic model of the vehicle (obtained from Newton-Euler equations) is used to improve the navigation performance. Previous model-aided navigation studies about AUVs have been focused on the translational dynamic model of vehicles. As the best of our knowledge, this paper is the first one which suggests using a rotational...

Coordinated control approaches for low-voltage ride-through enhancement in wind turbines with doubly fed induction generators

    , Article IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion ; Volume 25, Issue 3 , 2010 , Pages 873-883 ; 08858969 (ISSN) Rahimi, M ; Parniani, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
This paper deals with the coordinated control of rotor- and grid-side converters in wind turbines with doubly fed induction generators (DFIGs) to improve the low-voltage ride-through capability. The rotor-side converter control and additional equipment, called stator damping resistor, are used to limit the rotor inrush current and to reduce the oscillations and settling time of DFIG transient response during the voltage dip. Also, the grid-side converter is controlled to limit the dc-link overvoltage during the voltage drop. It is found that the dynamics of the grid-side converter and dc-link voltage exhibit nonminimum phase behavior, and thus there is an inherent limitation on the...
