Provide a Real Option Model for Managing Airlines' Revenue Management

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Esmaielzade Pakdaman, Hamid Reza (Author) ; Modarres, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis, we will examine the issue of managing airlines' income and determining the appropriate policies for storing accommodation for different classes in the seats of a flight. Most airlines use a nesting structure to allocate seats, in which access between classes is possible, but only the higher class can access all the seats in the subclass. It is assumed that this structure and allocation process increase company revenue, but the problem is that the chances of staying in the seat will increase in the hope of higher demand and higher risk of corporate income reduction. With the goal of providing a way to determine the optimal classroom dynamically, this study, for the first...

Forecasting Airline Demand by Using Hybric Bayesian Method and Time Series

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Shokouhi Seta, Hamid Reza (Author) ; Refie, Majid (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Using revenue management in any industry can increase the profit. In aviation industries, due to the huge number of requests and travels for each airline, a revenue management system can lead to a good profit for the airlines. The first step in revenue management system is predicting the demand. In this article two models are developed using time series techniques, based on the information taken from one of the Iranian airlines in Tehran-Mashhad fly route. The first model is developed using ARIMA and seasonal-ARIMA models and the second one is based on the demand and price history, price in the day of prediction and the ARIMA model. The second model which is a combination of price, prior price...

Requirement Management Fundamentals for an Air Transport Fleet to Investigate and Improve Airport Runway Saturation Points

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghasemzadeh, Alireza (Author) ; Malaek, Mohammad Bagher (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Air transport system of each country consists of three interconnected elements (players); namely (1) Airlines, (2) Airports and (3) Air-Traffic Control. Any increase in the air transport capacity requires consistent growth in each sector. Obviously, any player can start such a process, but cannot continue without proper contribution of the other two. In this work, we study the process of growth capacity increase in the air-transportation system with an emphasis on the Airline characteristics. We show how the growth of an independent Airline will lead to the condition for which any subsequent investment will not have any effect on the quality of services provided by the system. We refer to...
