    Abstract
A new catalyst based on metallophthalocyanine nanoparticles has been synthesized and characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The aqueous oxidation of alcohols to the corresponding carbonyl compounds (aldehydes and ketones) has been studied using tetra-n-butyl-ammonium-peroxo-monosulfate (n-Bu4NHSO5) as an oxidant and a catalytic system consisting of copper (II) phthalocyanine nanoparticles in water. The highly selective oxidation gave excellent yields of related aldehydes or ketones without remarkable over-oxidation of the carboxylic acids. Organic co-solvents, surfactants, and co-catalysts were not used in this catalytic strategy. This strategy was green and time effective. The...

Synthesis and Catalytic Properties of Novel Manganese (III)-oxazine Complex in Oxidation of Sulfides and Alcohols

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mohammadlou, Ali Akbar (Author) ; Bagherzadeh, Mojtaba (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study new manganese(III) complexes of phox [Mn(phox)2(MeOH)2](ClO4), (phox= 2-(2` hydroxyphenyl)-5,6-dihydro-1,3-oxazine) have been synthesized and characterized with CHN,NMR and IR.The six-membered bidentate (N,O) oxazine ligand have been widely used throughout organometallic and inorganic chemistry, and are particularly important in homogeneous catalysis. The presence of N and O donor sites in oxazines may modify significantly the ligand roles for the variation of steric and electronic properties. Therefore, such systems are worth exploring for new catalytic uses . Catalytic oxidation reactions provide excellent alternatives for the use of stoichiometric reagents like urea...

    Abstract
In this work, phosphorus-31 and aluminum-27 nuclear magnetic resonance techniques were used to characterize the distribution of soluble aluminophosphate species in methanol + water and ethanol + water mixtures. The assignment of the peaks to alu-minate species was attempted, clarifying earlier work and producing information on the different aluminophosphate complexes. Nine peaks were observed at -0.41, -6.4, -7.5, -7.9, -13.1, -13.9, -16.6, -18.1 and -20.6 ppm. Four new peaks appeared in the 31P NMR spectra of the alcoholic aluminophosphate solutions and their intensities changed with changes of the alcohol:water volume ratio. These new peaks were observed in the presence of methanol or...

Study of 2-butyne-1,4-diol as acid corrosion inhibitor for mild steel with electrochemical, infrared and AFM techniques

    , Article International Journal of Electrochemical Science ; Volume 4, Issue 9 , 2009 , Pages 1339-1350 ; 14523981 (ISSN) Hosseini, M. G ; Arshadi, M. R ; Sharif University of Technology
    2009
    Abstract
The inhibition of mild steel corrosion in 0.5 M sulphuric acid by the symmetrical acetylenic alcohol 2- butyne-1,4-diol is investigated. Weight loss and electrochemical impedance data consistently indicate inhibition efficiencies up to 98%. Short-term impedance measurements reveal that the interfacial inhibition is a function of the exposure time, and that full performance is achieved faster as inhibitor concentration and temperature are higher. An infrared study of the surface film provides evidence that the film does not achieve its final state but after several hours. Atomic force Microscopy has been used for investigation the surface topography of metallic electrode. © 2009 by ESG

The catalytic performance of the 3D electrode was evaluated by different electrochemical methods. An enhancement in the performance (about 253 %) and a remarkable decline in onset potential (about ∼0.63 V) in comparison with pristine...
