Reliability evaluation of a small area in a composite power system using branch-cutting method and load uncertainty

    , Article Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering 2005, Saskatoon, SK, 1 May 2005 through 4 May 2005 ; Volume 2005 , 2005 , Pages 2220-2223 ; 08407789 (ISSN) Gharagozloo, H ; Haghifam, M. R ; Fotuhi Firuzabad, M ; Farrokhzad, D ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In many applications, the requirements of static data and large computation times are still major concerns. This paper presents a practical equivalent model of a small area in a large scale system which needs less statistical data of system equipments with acceptable level of accuracy. The proposed technique is designated as the Branch-Cutting Method in which tie lines between the area of interest (AI) and the other parts of the network are cut and the network behavior is modeled with some load and generating units in marginal load points. The load at marginal load points is represented as a multi state load model with the associated state probability. Load uncertainty is modeled using the...

    Information resource management maturity model

, Article World Academy of Science, Engineering and Technology ; Volume 37 , 2009 , Pages 258-262 ; 2010376X (ISSN) Afshari, H ; Khosravi, Sh ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Nowadays there are more than thirty maturity models in different knowledge areas. Maturity model is an area of interest that contributes organizations to find out where they are in a specific knowledge area and how to improve it. As Information Resource Management (IRM) is the concept that information is a major corporate resource and must be managed using the same basic principles used to manage other assets, assessment of the current IRM status and reveal the improvement points can play a critical role in developing an appropriate information structure in organizations. In this paper we proposed a framework for information resource management maturity model (IRM3) that includes ten best...

A distributed interest management scheme for massively multi-user virtual environments

    , Article 2008 IEEE International Conference on Virtual Environments, Human-Computer Interfaces, and Measurement Systems, IEEE VECIMS 2008, Istanbul, 14 July 2008 through 16 July 2008 ; 2008 , Pages 111-115 ; 9781424419289 (ISBN) Hariri, B ; Shirmohammadi, S ; Pakravan, M. Abstract
Massively multi user virtual environment (MMVE) applications must deal with the challenge of update message exchange among a large set of nodes distributed over the Internet. Therefore design of scalable network protocols is a major concern in such large scale distributed architectures. Several approaches have been proposed to aid update exchange in MMVEs. Message localization has always been a key point in the design of such distributed network protocols. Area of Interest Management (AoIM) mainly deals with the issues related to the update message localization with respect to the user's interest. As the number of users in the virtual environment increases, update message localization...
