    Rutting is a primary cause of premature deterioration of asphalt pavements and modifying asphalt binders is a common way to improve binder characteristics and field performance. Two types of parameters are used to characterize asphalt rutting. One type includes binder parameters such as zero-shear viscosity and the Superpave rutting resistance index (G*/sinδ) derived from oscillatory loading tests such as the dynamic shear rheometer. The other type is derived from static and repeated loading creep tests on mixtures and binders.     Hydrated lime has been used as an anti-stripping agent with acceptable performance. Numorous studies have been conducted to evaluate hydrated lime as an anti-stripping agent, however effect of hydrated lime on performance properties of asphalt mixture has not been fully addressed. In the present study, the effect of hydrated lime was investigated. In this study, three methods of adding hydrated lime were evaluated.     Fatigue is one of the most common failure modes that reduce the structural integrity of asphalt pavements. Dynamic tests are used as fatigue performance indicators for asphalt mixture. However, these tests are expensive and require special equipment and set up.     In this research, Linear Amplitude Sweep (LAS) test was conducted on several asphalt binders modified by different percentages of gilsonite and Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene (SBS) polymer. Asphalt mixtures were also made from some of the study binders and tested for fatigue resistance using Four-point Bending Beam (FBB) fatigue test. The results showed that a strong correlation exists between LAS and FBB rankings at all the tested strain levels. Also, SHRP binder fatigue index (G∗sinδ), as a traditional binder fatigue index, was evaluated which did not show a strong correlation with either LAS or FBB tests.     One of the methods newly introduced in pavement technology to address environmental concerns and reduce total gas emission is warm mix asphalt (WMA) technology. In this study, polyethylene wax is used to produce WMA mixtures. Although this technology has several positive features, moisture and rutting resistance of WMA mixtures are always questionable. To evaluate moisture and rutting resistance of polyethylene-modified mixtures, indirect tensile strength and dynamic creep tests were used, respectively.
