    Existence of chaos in the fractional order unified system: The lowest effective dimension

    Abstract
    This paper deals with the existence of chaos in the fractional order unified system. In an earlier published work, based on the numerical simulation results it is claimed that the lowest effective dimension in the fractional order unified system in order to present chaotic behaviors is 2.76. In this paper, it is analytically shown that the fractional order unified system can be chaotic for effective dimensions lower than the claimed lowest effective dimension. Also, the lowest effective dimension for existence of chaos in such a system is analytically determined.     Thermomechanical behavior of work rolls during warm strip rolling

    Abstract
    A mathematical model was developed to assess thermomechanical behavior of work rolls during warm rolling processes. A combined finite element analysis-slab method was first developed to determine thermal and mechanical responses of the strip being rolled under steady-state conditions, and then, the calculated roll pressure and temperature field were utilized as the governing boundary conditions for the thermomechanical problem of the work roll. Finally, the thermomechanical stresses within the work rolls were predicted by a thermoelastic finite element approach.     Abstract
    This paper proposes a novel adaptive wide area backup protection scheme for transmission lines. In the proposed scheme, both the faulted line and fault location are determined by a limited number of synchronized phasor measurements. Based on phasor measurement unit placement and network topology, subsets of lines and buses called backup protection zones (BPZs) are formed. After a fault occurs in the transmission network, the sum of zero- and/or positive-sequence currents entering the faulted BPZ highly increases, and hence, the faulted BPZ can be determined.     The idea of power electronic transformer (PET), which work with solid-state switches, have been considered noticeably recently. Every power electronic transformer has several parts which each of them needs its own reliable supply voltage. So the appropriate performance of a PET depends on the existence of various proper supply voltages.
