    Abstract
Using the potential of off-grid photovoltaic systems is a feasible way to supply electrical energy to locations which are far from the national electricity grid. In the design process of these systems, it is important to choose an appropriate capacity of these panels, since it should be able to steadily supply energy in all-weather conditions, especially cloudy days. In the conventional algorithm to design these panels and determine the capacity of these photovoltaic arrays, the number of cloudy days is not considered. Thus, in this papers, a new method is introduced in order to find out the appropriate capacity of off-grid photovoltaic arrays in the planning process of these systems. © 2019...

A survey on underwater wireless sensor networks routing algorithms

    , Article 2017 IEEE 4th International Conference on Knowledge-Based Engineering and Innovation, KBEI 2017 ; Volume 2018-January , 2018 , Pages 0373-0378 ; 9781538626405 (ISBN) Fazeli, M ; Nasehi Basharzad, S ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Considering their special features and numerous applications, sensor networks are noticed so much nowadays. A sub-group of these applications is underwater sensor networks, which encounter some challenges like reliable transportation, routing, MAC, positioning, limited bandwidth, high and variable propagation delay, defective underwater channels and low battery capacity. Acoustic technologies are a particular technology which can make strong underwater communications for Civilian and military applications. These networks are used in oceans for environmental monitoring, under sea discovery, unexpected events prevention, ships assisting, tactical monitoring and naval mine detection, but there...

Hybrid fibrous (PVDF-BaTiO3)/ PA-11 piezoelectric patch as an energy harvester for pacemakers

    , Article Journal of Industrial Textiles ; Volume 51, Issue 3_suppl , 2022 , Pages 4698S-4719S ; 15280837 (ISSN) Kabir, H ; Kamali Dehghan, H ; Mashayekhan, S ; Bagherzadeh, R ; Sorayani Bafqi, M. S ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Lithium batteries have been widely used to power up implantable medical devices such as pacemakers that are often designed to treat, diagnose, and prevent different diseases. However, due to their limited capacity and lifetime, patients have to undergo a surgical procedure to replace the discharged battery. Recently, nanogenerators have been emerged and are broadly accepted since they can convert tiny biomechanical forces, such as heartbeats, into electrical energy. This study aims to manufacture a biocompatible and high-performance piezoelectric energy harvester (PEH) that is capable to be charged by the energy received from the heartbeat and store the generated voltage. In this research, a...

    Abstract
In a wirelessly-powered communication network (WPCN), an energy access point (E-AP) supplies the energy needs of the network nodes through radio frequency wave transmission, and the nodes store their received energy in their batteries for possible data transmission. In this paper, we propose an online control policy for energy transfer from the E-AP to the wireless nodes and for data transfer among the nodes. With our proposed control policy, all data queues of the nodes are stable, while the average energy consumption of the network is shown to be within a bounded gap of the minimum energy required for stabilizing the network. Our proposed policy is designed using a quadratic Lyapunov...
