    Abstract
    Equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) was used before and after various aging treatments in order to strengthen a commercial 6082 Al alloy. Experiments were carried out to study the strengthening of the alloy due to pre and post-ECAP aging treatment. It was found that aging before and after ECAP processing is an effective method for strengthening of the alloy. An increase in both strength and ductility of the ECAPed specimen was achieved via appropriate post-aging treatment. This was in such a manner that for maximal strengthening, post-ECAP aging is best conducted at temperatures lower than those usually used for aging if prior work hardening is not undertaken.     Heterogeneity is one of the challenges in the current NoC design which forces designers to consider irregular topologies. Therefore, finding an optimal topology with minimum cost (minimum use of links, buffers, NIs, etc) and power consumption, and maximum flexibility can provide the best cost-performance trade-off. Irregular mesh is a topology which combines the benefits of regularity and advantage of irregularity. Routing algorithms especially those coupled with wormhole switching should deal with deadlock occurrences.     Abstract
    The sol gel method was employed to prepare peroxopolytungstic acid (P-PTA). Palladium chloride salt was dissolved in the sol with different Pd:W molar ratios and coated on Al2O3 substrates by spin coating method. XRD and XPS techniques were used to analyze the crystal structure and chemical composition of the films before and after heat treatment at 500 °C. We observed that Pd can modify the growth kinetic of tungsten trioxide nanoparticles by reducing the crystallite size and as a result can improve hydrogen sensitivity.     The improvement of a vehicle body structure under the constraint of noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) behavior is investigated by using design of experiments (DOE) method. First, car body geometry is modeled in CATIA and meshed in HYPERMESH software. Then, a modal analysis between 0-50 Hz is done by MSC NASTRAN. A frequency map of the body is extracted and compared with a reference map to identify shortcomings. By using factorial and response surface Methods (RSM), optimization of the NVH performance is accomplished. An algorithm is proposed to improve the car NVH behavior.     The effect of dynamic strain aging on fatigue properties of dual phase steels with different martensite morphology

    Abstract
    Dual phase (DP) steels with network and fibrous martensite were produced by intercritical annealing heat treatment cycles. Some of these steels were deformed at dynamic strain aging temperatures. Room temperature tensile tests of specimens deformed at 300 °C showed that both yield and ultimate tensile strengths for both morphologies increased, while total elongation decreased. Fatigue test results before and after high temperature deformation showed that dynamic strain aging has a stronger effect on fatigue properties of dual phase steels with fibrous martensite.     Abstract
    Bolometric response and noise characteristics of YBCO superconductor transition edge IR detectors with relatively sharp transition and its resulting detectivity are investigated both theoretically and experimentally. The magnitude of response of a fabricated device was obtained for different bias currents and modulation frequencies. Using the measured and calculated bolometric response and noise characteristics, we found and analyzed the device detectivity versus frequency for different bias currents.     The electrochemical corrosion behavior of finemet alloy at various heat treatment temperatures was investigated. Thermal behavior and structural changes were studied using differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray diffractometry, respectively. The electrochemical corrosion of amorphous and annealed samples was investigated in 0.10 M NaOH solution using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and linear sweep voltammetery. Changes in morphology of the samples before and after corrosion were characterized using optical microscope.     Extensive wind tunnel tests have been conducted to investigate the unsteady flow field over and behind a 2D model of a 660 kW wind turbine blade section in pitching motion. The surface pressure and wake dynamic pressure variation at a distance of 1.5 chord length from trailing edge were measured by pressure transducers during several oscillating cycles at 3 reduced frequencies and oscillating amplitudes. Moreover, form drag and linear momentum deficit are extracted and compared at various conditions.     We have investigated hydrogen sensing properties of electrodeposited Pd clusters on macroporous silicon substrates. Porous layer was prepared by electrochemical etching of p-type silicon (100) wafer in organic electrolyte DMF (dimethylformamide) diluted by HF (%95 Vol. %). The deposition of Pd was carried out by linear voltammetry (LV) technique. This technique was taken for reduction of palladium ions in the potential range from 0.4 V to -1 V vs. SCE, at the scan rate of 20 mV s-1.     Nd:YAG laser treatment was used in order to increase surface cell adhesion aspects of polycarbonate (PC) films prepared via melt process. The treatment was carried out under different wavelengths and beam diameters. ATR-FTIR and UV spectra obtained from different samples before and after laser treatment in air showed that laser irradiation has induced some chemical and physical changes in surface properties.     Design technology is expected to rise to electronic system-level (ESL). This necessitates new techniques and tools for synthesizing ESL designs and for verifying them before and after ESL synthesis.
