    A textural approach for recognizing architectural distortion in mammograms

    Abstract
    Breast cancer is considered as the most important cause of death among women. Architectural distortions are very important signs of breast cancer and early detection of them is a rewarding work. In this paper we propose a method to recognize architectural distortion from normal parenchyma. In our proposed method, appropriate features are extracted by the analysis of oriented textures with the application of orientation component of recent the state-of-the-art local texture descriptor called Monogenic Binary Coding (MBC).     Abstract BCD digit multiplication module (BDM) is widely used in BCD arithmetic, especially in Decimal Floating-Point (DFP) units. In this paper, we present a new BCD digit multiplication scheme to accelerate this module. Similar to previous articles, our multiplier includes two parts contained binary multiplier and binary to BCD converter. Our contribution towards these modules can successfully overcome the previous BCD digit multipliers. The results indicate 19% hardware acceleration for the proposed multiplier architecture which is comparable to the best previous techniques in UMC 65 nm CMOS standard cells library hardware implementation.     Abstract
    In this paper, we obtain a family of lower bounds for the sum capacity of code-division multiple-access (CDMA) channels assuming binary inputs and binary signature codes in the presence of additive noise with an arbitrary distribution. The envelope of this family gives a relatively tight lower bound in terms of the number of users, spreading gain, and the noise distribution. The derivation methods for the noiseless and the noisy channels are different but when the noise variance goes to zero, the noisy channel bound approaches the noiseless case.     Abstract
    In this paper, an 8-bit CMOS current-mode folding-interpolating ADC is presented. A new active averaging-interpolating network is described, which results in a better error correction factor compared to its resistive counterpart. Using novel circuits for fast settling and careful transistor sizing, a fast (>160 Msps) and low power (70 mW in 2.5 V supply voltage) 8-bit ADC, with a total chip area of 1 × 1.4 mm in a 0.25 micron CMOS process, is demonstrated. © Sharif University of Technology, April 2008

    In this paper, we introduce a new class of codes for overloaded synchronous wireless and optical code-division multiple-access (CDMA) systems which increases the number of users for fixed number of chips without introducing any errors. Equivalently, the chip rate can be reduced for a given number of users, which implies bandwidth reduction for downlink wireless systems. An upper bound for the maximum number of users for a given number of chips is derived.     Pulse compression is an active research topic in radar systems. A problem in pulse compression is masking of small targets by the range sidelobes of large nearby targets. A new filter structure is introduced here to suppress the sidelobes of radar signals that result from standard matched filtering. The proposed filter is applicable for any type of binary coding signals. Several techniques are used to calculate the filter coefficients such as Wiener filter technique, Lagrange multiplier method, and linear programming (LP) algorithm.
