A bi-objective integrated procurement, production, and distribution problem of a multi-echelon supply chain network design: A new tuned MOEA

    , Article Computers and Operations Research ; Volume 54 , February , 2014 , Pages 35-51 ; ISSN: 03050548 Sarrafha, K ; Rahmati,S. H. A ; Niaki, S. T. A ; Zaretalab, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Efficient management of supply chain (SC) requires systematic considerations of miscellaneous issues in its comprehensive version. In this paper, a multi-periodic structure is developed for a supply chain network design (SCND) involving suppliers, factories, distribution centers (DCs), and retailers. The nature of the logistic decisions is tactical that encompasses procurement of raw materials from suppliers, production of finished product at factories, distribution of finished product to retailers via DCs, and the storage of raw materials and end product at factories and DCs. Besides, to make the structure more comprehensive, a flow-shop scheduling model in manufacturing part of the SC is...

Biogeography-based optimization of makespan and reliability in grid computing systems

    , Article International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems and Workshops, 3 October 2012 through 5 October 2012 ; October , 2012 , Pages 336-342 ; 21570221 (ISSN) ; 9781467320153 (ISBN) Mobini, M. Abstract
The aim of this paper is to propose a scheduling method to consider reliability along with makespan in grid computing systems. The reliability of task execution is considered in the proposed method to increase the chance of running large-scale and computationally intensive workflows successfully. To handle situations in which a resource failure in a possible scheduling solution occurs, the proposed method finds a collection of scheduling solutions instead of only one solution to run the workflow. It leads to have chance to run an alternative scheduling solution that is not using the failed resource. To find the most optimized scheduling solutions, we exploit the lately developed...

Opposition-based learning for competitive hub location: a bi-objective biogeography-based optimization algorithm

    , Article Knowledge-Based Systems ; Volume 128 , 2017 , Pages 1-19 ; 09507051 (ISSN) Niknamfar, A. H ; Akhavan Niaki, S. T ; Akhavan Niaki, S. A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
This paper introduces a new hub-and-center transportation network problem for a new company competing against an operating company. The new company intends to locate p hubs and assign the center nodes to the located hubs in order to form origin–destination pairs. It desires not only to maximize the total captured flow in the market but also aims to minimize the total transportation cost. Three competition rules are established between the companies which must be abided. According to the competition rules, the new company can capture the full percentage of the traffic in each origin-destination pair if its transportation cost for each route is significantly less than of the competitor. If its...

Integrated Green Vendor Managed Inventory Model with Truckload Transportation Mode Selection

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rezazadeh Yekani, Tohid (Author) ; Akhavan Niaki, Taghi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Nowadays, due to various reasons awareness of environment preservation has increased throughout the supply chain. So supply chain owners revise their carbon footprint. Among different methods of reducing, operational decisions (e.g. ordering quantity or transportation method) has less cost and time for observing outcomes. Our main focus is on inventory models that taking account environment considerations especially carbon emissions. Through these models, vendor-managed inventory model for reducing total cost of chain gets more attention than past. The purpose of this work is to develop a two echelon supply chain with multi-item for replacing inventory. This model includes warehouse capacity...

Financially embedded facility location decisions on designing a supply chain structure: A case study

    , Article Systems Engineering ; Volume 21, Issue 6 , 2018 , Pages 520-533 ; 10981241 (ISSN) Nobil, A. H ; Jalali, S ; Akhavan Niaki, S. T ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The facility location problem and its related financial issues have a significant impact on the configuration of a supply chain structure (SCS). Although affording the setup cost of facilities requires a huge financial investment, a meticulous planning to recoup it has been neglected by an overwhelming majority of previous studies. To fill this gap, an economical investment plan of facilities is determined by striking a trade-off between the contribution of the stockholders’ capital and the loan arrangement. In the context of a multiperiod three-echelon SCS, the model also determines the optimum location of plants and the best supply and distribution patterns. The model maximizes the fill...
