    Blow-up For Chemotaxis Models

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Sharifi Tabar, Mohsen (Author) ; Hesaaraki, Mahmoud (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Moving of living organisms appears in many interesting problems, e.g. the growth of bacteria colonies, tumor growth, wound healing, color patterns of animals and etc. There are many ways to model such problems and PDE theory is widely used to investigate these problems. In this thesis, we study two well-known classic models. First, macroscopic “Keller–Segel” model and then kinetic “Othmer–Dunbar–Alt” System. Since these models have a nice behavior in two dimensions that they don’t have in other dimensions, we propose a way to alter them such that they behave in this way in all dimensions. Also none of the known models have the suitable dynamics in one dimension, so our model has the property...

Ontological Study of Metabolic Networks to Develop an Identification Software for Metabolic Networks

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mohammadi Peyhani, Homa (Author) ; Bozorgmehry Boozarjomehry, Ramin (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Simulation of biological behaviors as the pre requirement for control and optimization, especially for recognition and treating diseases, requires studying involved reactions which may or may not be accessible. In the other side, finding the correct network structures and related mathematical expressions to simulate biological behaviors is a complicated problem due to multi aspect interactions among biological reactions, which imply an approach that integrate the knowledge coming from multiple discipline including biological concepts, mathematical modelling, bioinformatics and advanced programming. In this study we aim to analyze this problem using ontological inference to develop a...

The Correlation between Science & Abrahamic Religions (Emphasizing on Evolutionary Biology & Islam)

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Farahmand, Maryam (Author) ; Tagavi, Mustafa (Supervisor) ; Miandari, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
While the science–religion debate on human creation has been widely explored in the Muslim world، Iranian Muslim opinions have been missed in the mainstream literature. To see whether they follow the lead of the majority of Muslim thinkers or not، here is an overview of the Qur’anic Perspective of Iranian Muslim Scholars. After reviewing the previously categorized approaches of Muslims encountering evolution mentioned in the literature، this thesis will survey the Qur’anic verses related to the biological creation of man with the “scientific-lexical” method of all possible states. Afterward، the views of the most-cited Iranian scholars، such as Saḥābī، Ṭabāṭabā’ī، Muṭahharī، and Jawādī، will...
