Synthesis and Characterization of Bis[2-(2׳-Hydroxyphenyl)- -oxazolinato]Ni(II) Complex and Investigation of it׳s Catalytic Activity in C-C Coupling Heck Reaction

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Arab, Zeynab (Author) ; Bagherzadeh, Mojtaba (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study a new Ni(II)-¬oxazoline complex was synthesized by reaction of Ni(CH3COO)2.4H2O and 2-(2׳-hydroxyphenyl)-2-oxazoline ligand in MeOH solvent. The resulting complex bis[2-(2׳-hydroxyphenyl)-2-oxazolinato]Ni(II), was characterized by different spectroscopic methods. X-ray diffraction showed that this complex is four coordinated with a square planner geometry. The complex was applied as an efficient homogeneous catalyst in C-C coupling Heck reaction of arylhalides with olefins such as methylacrylate. Investigation of the catalytic activity of the complex in Heck reaction between arylhalides and olefins showed high yield and selectivity. For example reaction between iodobenzene and...

Application of Transition Metal Spinels in Carbon-Carbon Bond Formation in Organic Reactions

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ahangarpour, Marzieh (Author) ; Matloubi Moghaddam, Firouz (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The ability of Ferro spinels to catalyze the reactions, along with their ability to become easily separated, has attracted many attentions. These Ferro spinels are synthesized in an efficient way and are used as a catalyst for carbon-carbon bond formation. Nanoparticles of Spinel ferrites, for instance three-metal ferrites, have unique characteristics and have very interesting and important applications in synthetic organic chemistry. In the first section of this thesis, synthesis and analysis of copper cobalt ferrite is considered. In the second section, several organic chemical reactions are investigated to evaluate the catalytic activity of these nanoparticles. Finally, the catalytic role...

Synthesis of Metal-Organic Frameworks and Self-supported Coordination Polymers of Transition Metals with Catalytic Potential as Template for Supported Pd Nanoparticles and Preparation of Metal Oxide Nanoparticles for Olefin Epoxidation and C-C Coupling Reactions

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ashouri, Fatemeh (Author) ; Bagherzadeh, Mojtaba (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this research, synthesis of new heterogeneous catalysts has been studied. These catalysts were prepared in three different areas of the synthesis of coordination polymers and metal-organic frameworks, supported palladium nanoparticles on these polymers, and production of metal oxide nanoparticles. At first, metal organic frameworks of cobalt and manganese transition metals were synthesized through hydrothermal method. In order to prepare these frameworks, 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid (terephthalic acid) and 2-amino-1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid ligands were utilized as spacer ligands. X-ray analysis indicated that the structure of polymers is composed of secondary building units (SBUs) of...

Synthesis of a MOF Supported Polyoxotungstate and its Application as Catalyst in C-C Coupling Reaction

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Etessamifar, Fatemeh (Author) ; Bagherzadeh, Mojtaba (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study, a polyoxotungestate containing copper was impregnated as catalyst on a magnetic metal-organic framework (Fe3O4/MIL-101(Cr)). Initially, the desired polyoxotungestate was synthesized using sodium tungestate and sodium metasilicate salts and then copper(ІІ) ion was fixed on it. Subsequently, the MIL-101(Cr) metal-organic framework was prepared by solvothermal method; using chromium nitrate salt and 1,4-benzen dicarboxylic acid at 220 ◦C and was magnetized by co-precipitation method. Finally, the corresponding polyoxotungestate was stirred at ambient temperature for 24 h with MIL-101(Cr) and then the brown precipitate was separated using a magnet. Different techniques such as IR,...

Synthesis of Heterogeneous Catalysts Based on Metal-Organic Framework and Investigation of Their Applications to Promote Oxidative Carbon-Carbon Cross Coupling Reactions

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Sadat Sadredini, Shaghayegh (Author) ; Matloubi Moghaddam, Firouz (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The magnetic MOF-based catalytic system has been reported here to be an efficient catalyst for running CDC reactions and synthesis of Triazole rings under optimal conditions. The robust MOF catalyst was built based on magnetic nanoparticles and HKUST-1 which further modified with thioacetamide and carbonization. The catalyst structure was confirmed by various techniques. Furthermore, the products’ yields were obtained in good to excellent for all reactions under mild conditions which result from superior activity of the synthesized heterogeneous catalyst containing Cupper. Also, the magnetic property of the MOF-based catalyst makes it easy to separate from reaction mediums and reuse in the...
