An artificial intelligent cac scheme for self-similar traffic using fuzzy case based reasoning

, Article IASTED International Conference on Communication Systems and Applications, as part of the Fifth IASTED International Multi-Conference on Wireless and Optical Communications, CSA 2005, Banff, AB, 19 July 2005 through 21 July 2005 ; 2005 , Pages 197-204 ; 0889864934 (ISBN) Parvaresh, A ; Kalantari, M. Abstract
In recent high speed networks such as ATM, dealing with different kinds of traffics have become a promising goal.Due to the dynamic nature and burstiness of aggregation of these various traffics, which is shown to be self similar, network congestion would occur more probably. Thus congestion control mechanisms (e.g. connection admission control) should be applied to preserve the quality of service of traffics passing through the network. In this paper we present a connection admission control (CAC) algorithm for self-similar traffics based on case based reasoning (CBR) which is almost a new concept in applied artificial intelligence. CBR is used to correct the estimation of the number of...

Arian: A general architecture for advisable agents

, Article Proceedings of the International Conference on Machine Learning; Models, Technologies and Applications, MLMTA'03, Las Vegas, NV, 23 June 2003 through 26 June 2003 ; 2003 , Pages 17-23 ; 1932415114 (ISBN) Ahmadi, M ; Motamed, M ; Habibi, J ; Sharif University of Technology
    2003
    Abstract
Integration of advice is intended to acquire knowledge from an agent with more comprehensive information. This paper describes Arian, a general architecture for advice integration. Advice is injected into the system using the advice model which is a case in a CBR system. The architecture comprises an advice adapter to model incomming advice as cases of a CBR system. The Arian architecture is a 2-layered structure in which a refiner component in the top layer is used to modify agent behaviors. The paper also discusses how trust is modelled to distinguish between multiple sources of advice including humans. Arian, the champion team of RoboCup'02 Rescue Simulation Competitions, as an example of...

Learning and abstraction in a fuzzy artificial world

    , Article Proceedings of the Seventh IASTED International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Soft Computing, Banff, 14 July 2003 through 16 July 2003 ; Volume 7 , 2003 , Pages 75-80 ; 0889863679 (ISBN) Zadeh, S. H ; Shouraki, S. B ; Halavati, R ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Zamin is an artificial world suitable for cognitive studies on the origin of complex behaviors. Zamin's main organisms (called Aryos) live in a simple world and use their Fuzzy CBR-based brains to learn Zamin's living rules and react to their environment, in order to stay alive. Based on previous works on Zamin, we have made some changes on the organisms' behavior and internal structure, in order to increase their abstraction and learning capabilities. We tested the results and found that with respect to old type Aryos, new ones, can overcome to environmental difficulties more easily, and considerably improve their species' population

Towards A Framework for Knowledge Acquisition in Decision Support System in Software Architecture Domain

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ziaie, Azarakhsh (Author) ; Habibi, Jafar (Supervisor) ; Abtahi, Ebrahim (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
Making Decision about software architecture design is a multi-criteria problem which depends on different factors. One of the main problems in software architecture is the high cost and complexity of Decision making which is rooted in knowledge vaporiza-tion. In fact current developers of the system are not necessarily the primary designers of the architect. Thus, the system cannot be understood without the knowledge about the history of the architecture. Additionally, a good organization of knowledge will be helpful in terms of knowledge reuse and best practices which leads to low cost of architecture.Due to the importance of knowledge in software architecture, knowledge acquisition as well...

A Case Based Reasoning Model for Cost Estimation of Product Development in Design and Process Planning Phases Using a Meta Heuristic Algorithm

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mohammadian Masouleh, Minoo (Author) ; Fatahi Valilai, Omid (Supervisor)
    Abstract
New product development (NPD) is a crucial process in maintaining a company’s competitive position and succeeding in dynamic markets. One of contemporary trends in the global economy is mass customisation that bases on modifications of existing products instead of designing everything as a new project. Product development can be achieved in design, planning or production phases. Specifications of previous products deliver information of design, cost and time of past NPD projects that can be the basis for developing new products. Given the low chance of technical success, market change and high cost research, market demand, product development management is important to increase the quality...

A hierarchical machine learning model based on Glioblastoma patients' clinical, biomedical, and image data to analyze their treatment plans

    , Article Computers in Biology and Medicine ; Volume 150 , 2022 ; 00104825 (ISSN) Ershadi, M. M ; Rahimi Rise, Z ; Akhavan Niaki, S. T ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Aim of study: Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) is an aggressive brain cancer in adults that kills most patients in the first year due to ineffective treatment. Different clinical, biomedical, and image data features are needed to analyze GBM, increasing complexities. Besides, they lead to weak performances for machine learning models due to ignoring physicians' knowledge. Therefore, this paper proposes a hierarchical model based on Fuzzy C-mean (FCM) clustering, Wrapper feature selection, and twelve classifiers to analyze treatment plans. Methodology/Approach: The proposed method finds the effectiveness of previous and current treatment plans, hierarchically determining the best decision for...
