Assessment of the resonance frequency of cantilever carbon nanocones using molecular dynamics simulation

    , Article Applied Physics Letters ; Volume 100, Issue 17 , 2012 ; 00036951 (ISSN) Firouz Abadi, R. D ; Amini, H ; Hosseinian, A. R ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The resonance frequencies of cantilever carbon nanocones (CNCs) up to 4 nm in height are determined using molecular dynamics simulation based on adaptive intermolecular reactive empirical bond order potential. The frequency content of the free vibrations of CNCs under a lateral initial excitation at the tip is analyzed using fast Fourier transformation, and the resonance frequencies are obtained. The results are reported for various samples to investigate the dependency of the resonance frequency to the geometrical parameters and temperature of CNCs

Cellulose-immobilized NHC-Cu(i) complex: An efficient and reusable catalyst for multicomponent synthesis of 1,2,3-triazoles

    , Article RSC Advances ; Volume 5, Issue 120 , Nov , 2015 , Pages 99498-99501 ; 20462069 (ISSN) Pourjavadi, A ; Habibi, Z ; Sharif University of Technology
    Royal Society of Chemistry  2015
    Abstract
A novel cellulose supported copper NHC complex has been prepared by the reaction of cellulose supported imidazolium salt with copper(i) iodide. The catalyst is active in the synthesis of 1,2,3-triazoles via a one-pot reaction of alkyl/benzyl halides or tosylates and terminal alkynes, with sodium azide in water

Fabrication of high conductivity TiO2/Ag fibrous electrode by the electrophoretic deposition method

    , Article Journal of Physical Chemistry C ; Volume 112, Issue 47 , 2008 , Pages 18686-18689 ; 19327447 (ISSN) Hosseini, Z ; Taghavinia, N ; Sharifi, N ; Chavoshi, M ; Rahman, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
TiO2 deposited on a membrane of Ag fibers was prepared as a photoelectrochemical cell electrode. Ag fibers were made by reduction of Ag complexes on cellulose fibers, followed by burning out the template. TiO 2 photocatalyst layers were grown on the fibers by electrophoretic deposition of TiO2 nanoparticles. Ag fibers could be uniformly deposited. Photocatalytic tests by dye decomposition and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) under UV illumination demonstrate that Ag fibers act as a good substrate that provides both high surface area and good separation of photogenerated electron-hole pairs and causes the enhancement of photocatalytic activity in comparison with a thin film of...

Effective factors in the treatment of kerosene-water emulsion by using UF membranes

    , Article Journal of Hazardous Materials ; Volume 161, Issue 2-3 , 2009 , Pages 1216-1224 ; 03043894 (ISSN) Rezvanpour, A ; Roostaazad, R ; Hesampour, M ; Nyström, M ; Ghotbi, C ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The effects of different parameters including membrane type (regenerated cellulose and polysulphone), transmembrane pressure (TMP), the content of oil in the feed, the flow velocity of the feed and pH on the ultrafiltration of an emulsion of kerosene in water were studied. It was found that the important factors affecting ultrafiltration were, in order, membrane type, pressure and oil concentration. The greatest flux at the optimum conditions here of 3 bar, an oil content of 3% (v/v) and with membrane type C30F was predicted as 108 L/(m2 h) that was within the range of the confidence limit of the measured value of 106 L/(m2 h). The normalised FTIR results of the virgin cellulosic membranes...
