    , Article International Journal of Hydrogen Energy ; Volume 37, Issue 20 , October , 2012 , Pages 15359-15366 ; 03603199 (ISSN) Amanipour, M ; Safekordi, A ; Ganji Babakhani, E ; Zamaniyan, A ; Heidari, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
A hydrogen-selective nano-composite ceramic membrane was prepared by depositing a dense layer composed of SiO2 and Al2O 3 on top of a graded multilayer substrate using co-current chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method. The multilayer substrate was made by dip-coating a macroporous α-alumina tubular support by a series of boehmite solutions to get a graded structure. Using DLS analysis, it was concluded that decreasing hydrolysis time and increasing acid concentration lead to smaller particle size of boehmite sols. XRD analysis was carried out to investigate the structure of intermediate layer and an optimized calcination temperature of 973 K was obtained. SEM images indicated the formation...

In situ growth of carbon nanotubes in alumina-zirconia nanocomposite matrix prepared by solution combustion method

    , Article Ceramics International ; Volume 38, Issue 4 , May , 2012 , Pages 3273-3280 ; 02728842 (ISSN) Beitollahi, A ; Pilehvari, S ; Faghihi Sani, M. A ; Moradi, H ; Akbarnejad, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this work successful synthesis of multiwall carbon nanotube (CNT) using solution combustion and chemical vapor deposition (CVD) methods are reported. Ceramic nanocomposite samples of (Al 2-xFe xO 3)-(y)ZrO 2 formula with x = 0.017, 0.034 and 0.17 and y = 0.15 were initially prepared. These were then subjected to CVD process during which the in situ reduction of iron oxide to metallic iron (Fe/Fe 3C) phase/s provided the necessary catalyst for the CNT formation. The formation of long flexible filaments with a smooth and regular surface bridging between alumina-zirconia (AZ) grains could be detected. The diameters of the formed filaments were in the range of ∼70 to ∼320 nm and length of the...

Hydrogen sensing properties of multi-walled carbon nanotube films sputtered by Pd

    , Article International Journal of Hydrogen Energy ; Volume 35, Issue 9 , 2010 , Pages 4445-4449 ; 03603199 (ISSN) Ghasempour, R ; Mortazavi, S. Z ; Iraji zad, A ; Rahimi, F ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Multi-Walled Carbon nanotube (MWCNTs) films were obtained by Thermal Chemical Vapor Deposition method and coated by palladium sputtering process. Raman spectroscopy was used to study alteration in quality of the carbon nanotubes after the sputtering process. Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR) spectroscopy showed that hydrogenation process can reduce the C{double bond, long}O to C-O and also produce O-H bond. Furthermore, the electrical resistance measurement for Pd/MWNTs films was performed in a chamber with 1% hydrogen gas in a constant dry air flow. Hydrogen sensing behavior of the films was investigated at 50 °C. Pd/MWCNTs films presented an irreversible gas response to hydrogen in the...

All inorganic cesium lead iodide perovskite nanowires with stabilized cubic phase at room temperature and nanowire array-based photodetectors

    , Article Nano Letters ; Volume 17, Issue 8 , 2017 , Pages 4951-4957 ; 15306984 (ISSN) Waleed, A ; Tavakoli, M. M ; Gu, L ; Hussain, S ; Zhang, D ; Poddar, S ; Wang, Z ; Zhang, R ; Fan, Z ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Alluring optical and electronic properties have made organometallic halide perovskites attractive candidates for optoelectronics. Among all perovskite materials, inorganic CsPbX3 (X is halide) in black cubic phase has triggered enormous attention recently owing to its comparable photovoltaic performance and high stability as compared to organic and hybrid perovskites. However, cubic phase stabilization at room temperature for CsPbI3 still survives as a challenge. Herein we report all inorganic three-dimensional vertical CsPbI3 perovskite nanowires (NWs) synthesized inside anodic alumina membrane (AAM) by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method. It was discovered that the as-grown NWs have...

    Abstract
In this research, it is aimed to enhance the heat transfer properties of the carbon nanotubes through nitrogen doping. To this end, nitrogen-doped multiwall carbon nanotubes (N-CNTs) were synthesized via chemical vapor deposition method. For supplying carbon and nitrogen during the synthesis of N-CNTs, camphor and urea were used, respectively, at 1000 °C over Co–Mo/MgO nanocatalyst in a hydrogen atmosphere. N-CNTs with three different nitrogen loadings of 0.56, 0.98, and 1.38 mass% were synthesized, after which, water/N-CNT nanofluids of these three samples with concentrations of 0.1, 0.2, and 0.5 mass% were prepared. To obtain a stable nanofluid, N-CNTs were functionalized by nitric acid...

    Abstract
The effects of HCl, HNO3, H2SO4 and HF acids on the purification and the electrochemical hydrogen storage of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were studied. The MWCNTs were synthesized on Fe-Ni catalyst by thermal chemical vapor deposition method. The X-ray diffraction and thermal gravimetric analysis results indicated that the MWCNTs purified by HF acid had the highest impurities as compared with the other acids. The N2 adsorption results at 77 K indicated that all the samples were mainly mesoporous and the purified MWCNTs by HF acid had the highest surface area as compared with the other acids. The hydrogen storage capacities of the purified MWCNTs by the following acids were in...

    Abstract
Tubular ceramic membranes were synthesized by depositing a dense layer of silica-alumina on top of a multilayer substrate using co-current chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method. The multilayer substrate was prepared by coating with a series of bohemite sols with certain particle sizes. Cross-sectional and surface images obtained from high resolution FESEM showed that the intermediate layer had a thickness of about 1μm and the top selective layer was uniform and dense with a thickness of less than 100nm. Permeance tests, which were carried out with H 2, CO 2, N 2 and CH 4 at a high temperature range of 923-1073K, indicated that gas permeation took place via different mechanisms through...
