Separation and Preconcentration of Gold and Silver Nanoparticles Using Cloud Point Extraction

    , M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Zare-moghadam, Mousa (Author) ; Hormozi-Nezhad, M.R (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Separation and identification of metal nanoparticles in surface water samples such as river water is very important. Nanoparticles specially metal nanoparticles have small dimensions can easily pass through from the body's outer immune system and disrupt biological function. Most of the nanoparticles have active surface so environmental contaminants can be absorbed on their surface and then can penerated in the body, and they may cause disease. Therefore determination of nanoparticles type and concentrations and their separation from the surrounding environment, especially surface waters is important. Separation and preconcentration of metal nanoparticles was done by using cloud point...

Investigation of Chemical Factors Affecting on Supramolecular Chemistry of Gas Hydrate Inhibitors

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Najafi Barzegar, Sara (Author) ; Ghanbari, Bahram (Supervisor) ; Taheri Rizi, Zahra (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this research, some inhibitors based on quaternary monoammonium salts and quaternary diammonium salts containing different anions were synthesized to prevent formation of methane gas hydrates, and they were characterized using 1H and 13C NMR spectra, IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis and mass spectrometry. Then, the synthesized compounds were used in an autoclave under 128 bar pressure under controlled isothermal conditions to determine retention time considering displacement amount of the gas hydrate temperature- pressure chart and also to determine subcooling of the samples using HW Hydrate software. According to the results T3, T4 and TBAHF compounds in their pure form, not only...

Characterization and transesterification of Iranian bitter almond oil for biodiesel production

    Abstract
In the present work the production of biodiesel using bitter almond oil (BAO) in a potassium hydroxide catalyzed transesterification reaction was investigated. The BAO was obtained from resources available in Iran and its physical and chemical properties including iodine value, acid value, density, kinematic viscosity, fatty acid composition and mean molecular weight were specified. The low acid value of BAO (0.24. mg. KOH/g) indicated that the pretreatment of raw oil with acid was not required. The fatty acid content analysis confirmed that the contribution of unsaturated fatty acids in the BAO is high (84.7. wt.%). Effect of different parameters including methanol to oil molar ratio (3-11....
