On the influence of rolling path change on static recrystallization behavior of commercial purity aluminum

    , Article International Journal of Material Forming ; Vol. 7, issue. 1 , 2014 , pp. 53-63 ; ISSN: 19606206 Koohbor, B ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
An examination of the influence of rolling path change on the static recrystallization behavior of commercial purity aluminum was performed in the present work. Aluminum strips were cold rolled to a reduction of 50 % under various rolling sequences, i.e. single-pass, double-pass from one direction and with reverse directions, and were then annealed in 290 °C for different durations, while mechanical evaluations such as hardness and tensile tests were used to study the mechanical response of cold deformed and annealed samples. It was indicated that a variation in the recrystallization kinetics of the cold rolled aluminum strips takes place when the rolling path is altered from single to...

Influence of deformation path change on static strain aging of cold rolled steel strip

    , Article International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology ; Volume 61, Issue 9-12 , 2012 , Pages 901-909 ; 02683768 (ISSN) Koohbor, B ; Serajzadeh, S
    Abstract
Effect of deformation path change on the static strain aging of low carbon steel was studied in this work. In the first stage, strip samples were subjected to cold rolling processes under different paths with the same total reduction in thickness while the deformation behaviors of the rolled samples were also evaluated using a mathematical analysis. Then, cold-rolled strips were aged in room temperature up to 45 days while hardness and tensile evaluations were performed to assess the mechanical properties of the as-rolled and the aged samples. Finally, the influence of rolling pass schedule on the subsequent strain aging phenomenon was investigated by means of the experimental results and...

Thermomechanical behaviours of strip and work-rolls in cold rolling process

    Abstract
A finite element analysis was developed to determine thermomechanical behaviours of strip and work-roll during cold rolling process under practical rolling conditions. The velocity field was first obtained using a rigid-plastic finite element formulation and then it was used to assess the strain and stress distributions within the strip and at the same time, a thermal finite element model based on streamline upwind Petrov-Galerkin scheme was employed to predict temperature distribution within the metal being rolled. In the next stage, the predicted temperature and stress fields at the contact region of strip/work-roll were employed as the boundary conditions to evaluate the thermomechanical...
