On the influence of rolling path change on static recrystallization behavior of commercial purity aluminum

    , Article International Journal of Material Forming ; Vol. 7, issue. 1 , 2014 , pp. 53-63 ; ISSN: 19606206 Koohbor, B ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
An examination of the influence of rolling path change on the static recrystallization behavior of commercial purity aluminum was performed in the present work. Aluminum strips were cold rolled to a reduction of 50 % under various rolling sequences, i.e. single-pass, double-pass from one direction and with reverse directions, and were then annealed in 290 °C for different durations, while mechanical evaluations such as hardness and tensile tests were used to study the mechanical response of cold deformed and annealed samples. It was indicated that a variation in the recrystallization kinetics of the cold rolled aluminum strips takes place when the rolling path is altered from single to...

Development of a novel severe plastic deformation method for tubular materials: Tube Channel Pressing (TCP)

    Abstract
A new severe plastic deformation (SPD) method entitled Tube Channel Pressing (TCP) is proposed. In this study, the ability of TCP on strength improvement and grain refinement is assessed. This method is based on pressing a tube through a tubular channel die with a neck zone. Utilization of a mandrel fitted inside the tube prevents the crumpling of tube and preserves its initial dimension. Due to the symmetric design, after one pass, the die is rotated upside down and the second pass is applied by pressing the tube in inverse direction. Ultimate strength of a commercial purity aluminum tube after 5 successful passes is improved to 2 times of the initial strength. Analytical calculations and...

Nanostructure and mechanical properties of 0-7 strained aluminum by CGP: XRD, TEM and tensile test

    Abstract
Commercial purity aluminum sheets are subjected to a severe plastic deformation technique called constrained groove pressing. In this study for the first time by using some technical optimizations, a strain magnitude of 6.9 is imposed to the sheets. The grain size evolution during severe plastic deformation is studied using Williamson-Hall analysis on X-ray diffraction pattern of the deformed samples. These results and transmission electron microscopy observations show that constrained groove pressing process can effectively refine the coarse-grained structure to an ultrafine grain range. The results of mechanical tests show that imposing strain in range of 0-5.75 causes to strengthening of...
