    , Article IET Conference Publications ; Vol. 2013, issue. 615 CP , 2013 ; ISBN: 9781850000000 Shafiee, S ; Fotuhi-Firuzabad, M ; Rastegar, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Smart grids are envisioned to support large penetrations of electrical vehicles driven by economical and environmental signals. Nevertheless, distribution system operators are becoming concerned about distribution congestion that may occur in the network with multiple domestic plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) charging. Therefore, investigating the impacts of high PHEV penetration levels on the performance of distribution networks seems to be essential for system operators and planners. Doing so, in this paper, PHEV characteristics are precisely extracted from valid published reports and surveys. Accordingly, a comprehensive model for investigating the impacts of different PHEV...

    , Article Applied Mechanics and Materials ; Vol. 664, issue , 2014 , p. 104-110 Abtahi, M ; Vossoughi, G ; Meghdari, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
In this paper, a comprehensive model is used to describe dynamic behavior of SDA and its components during stepwise motion. In this model, Hamilton’s principle and Newton's method are used to extract dynamic equations of the SDA plate and dynamic equation for the linear motion of SDA. Comparison between the modeling results and available experimental data shows that this model is very effective in predicting some design objectives such as step size and output force for this type of actuators

    Abstract
Accurate value determination of natural gas viscosity plays a key role in its management as it is one of the most important parameters in natural gas engineering calculations. In this study, a comprehensive model is suggested for prediction of natural gas viscosity in a wide range of pressures, temperatures, densities and compositions. The new model can be applicable for gases containing heptane plus and non-hydrocarbon components. It is validated by the 2011 viscosity data from 18 different gas mixtures. Compared to existing similar models and correlations, its results are quite satisfactory

    Abstract
This paper discusses a novel and detailed approach for dynamic modeling and control design of a coupled hydraulic dynamometer/turbine-engine system. This study presents a comprehensive model to reveal the coupling effects and an adaptive multiobjective controller to ensure a safe and reliable operation. A fuzzy-based strategy is employed to dynamically adjust the controller gains to keep the state variables and power loading within the desirable operational limits. This approach uses the dynamometer inlet, outlet, and trim valves as well as the turbine fuel flow rate and bleed valve in order to control the system performance during the engine testing process. The proposed fuzzy control...

    Abstract
To investigate the flow stress evolution in further straining of severely deformed Al sheets, a comprehensive model which considers both mechanical and metallurgical alterations is needed. In this study, constrained groove pressing (CGP) as a severe plastic deformation method, and a flat rolling process for further straining are utilized. Using basic mechanical models, strain and strain rate were calculated for this process. Dislocation density and flow stress evolutions were predicted by utilizing initial mechanical data, considering the ETMB (Y. Estrin, L. S. Toth, A. Molinari, and Y. Brechet) dislocation density model. Based on these model predictions, the combination of the CGP process...

    Abstract
An analytical/numerical model based on the assumption of rigid incompressible water column and compressible air bubble, is derived to simulate the pressure fluctuations, void fraction, air/water flow rate, water velocity in a closed conduit and water depth at upper reservoir due to formation of unstable slug flow. It is a comprehensive model which can generate different hydraulic situations of instability in a closed conduit based on hydraulic approach. The boundary conditions are the system of algebraic or/and simple differential equations. The steady solution of the governing differential equations is generally performed as the initial data. The frequency of pressure fluctuation and...

    Abstract
Controlling inverters with LC output filters in order to achieve a high quality desired output voltage or current is a challenging problem in power electronics. The LC filter and the binary nature of switch state variables increase the difficulty of achieving a single comprehensive model for the system. In this paper, a hybrid model is presented for a three-phase inverter with an LC output filter and a three-phase RL load. Then, the Model Predictive Control (MPC) algorithm is applied to the model and a geometrical approximate method is used to fit the answers to the binary values. Simulation results for a sample system verify the usability of the method and the quality of the answers

    Abstract
One of the most important characteristics of industrial products, especially mechanical set-ups, is considering the tolerances of production and assembly of these set-ups, which directly influences the products' operations. In sheet metal structures, due to the high flexibility of the sheets, the errors appeared while assembly will be as highly influential as the errors due to the production tolerance of the sheets. As a result, having a comprehensive model which could analyze the assembly process of these structures and also clarifies the relation between the tolerance of the parts and the ultimate changes of the set-up will be of considerable importance. During the assembly process, the...

    Abstract
Despite the advantages of employing an electric propulsion system in All-Electric Ships (AES), additional power fluctuation sources have emerged in the ship power system as a result. Since the propellers are the primary power consumers in the AES, these fluctuations may significantly affect its power system power quality. Thus, for optimal performance of the ship power system, these fluctuations need to be rigorously investigated at the design level of vessels. Waves collision is one of the critical conditions where propellers inject power fluctuations into the ship power system. Therefore, a comprehensive model is essential to analyze the propellers in-and-out-of-water effect on the ship...
