    Abstract
The reaction kinetics of the dehydration step of the condensation reaction between phenylhydrazine and benzaldehyde was studied spectrophotometrically in aqueous solutions of ethanol, propan-2-ol and 2-methylpropan-2-ol at pH 11.5 at 25 °C. The apparent second-order rate constants k2app of the reaction increase with mole fraction of water in all the aqueous solutions. Single-parameter correlations of log k2app versus π* (dipolarity/polarizability), α (hydrogen-bond donor acidity) and ETN (normalized polarity parameter) were obtained in all the aqueous solutions. In all cases, the correlations versus ETN and π* are acceptable, but correlations versus α are poor (e.g. in aqueous solutions of...

Immobilized palladium nanoparticles on MNPs@A-N-AEB as an efficient catalyst for C-O bond formation in water as a green Solvent

    Abstract
Palladium nanoparticles immobilized on the magnetic nanoparticles@2-amino-N-(2-aminoethyl) benzamide (MNPs@A-N-AEB.Pd0) have been presented as an efficient, and reusable magnetically heterogeneous catalyst for the C-O coupling reaction, namely Ullmann condensation reactions in an aqueous medium. This heterogeneous catalyst shows superior reactivity for the C-O arylation of different aryl halide (chloride, bromide, and iodide) with phenol derivatives to afford the desired products in good to excellent yields within short reaction time. Moreover, the catalyst can be easily recovered and reused for seven runs without loss of catalytic activity. The catalyst was characterized by several...

Investigation of the interfacial electron transfer kinetics in ferrocene-terminated oligophenyleneimine self-assembled monolayers

    Abstract
In this article, the synthesis, characterization, and cyclic voltammetry (CV) measurements are reported for ferrocene-terminated oligophenyleneimine (OPI_Fc) and ferrocene-terminated conjugation-broken oligophenyleneimine (CB-OPI_Fc) self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) in two different electrolytes, namely, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium-bis (trifluoromethyl-sulfonyl) imide (EMITFSI) ionic liquid and tetrabutylammonium hexafluorophosphate (Bu4NPF6) in acetonitrile (0.1 M solution). The SAMs were synthesized on Au surfaces by the sequential imine condensation reactions. CV was used to investigate the kinetics of electron transfer (ET) to the ferrocene, and it was observed that the standard ET rate...

Production of uniform size cell-enclosing silk derivative vehicles through coaxial microfluidic device and horseradish crosslinking reaction

    Abstract
Silk fibroin (SF) as a natural biopolymer holds great potential in biomedical research because of its biocompatibility, easy processability and high strength properties. However, slow gelation time has narrowed its applications, specifically in cell-laden microparticle production due to insufficient crosslinkable moieties. This study aimed to develop cell-laden silk fibroin-phenol (SF-Ph) microparticle through co-flow microfluidic system using SF conjugated Ph moieties whereas covalent crosslinking is mediated with horseradish peroxidase (HRP) in the presence of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). For this, the SF-Ph was synthesized through carbodiimide condensation crosslinking reaction. Aqueous...

Studies of the rate of water evaporation through adsorption layers using drop shape analysis tensiometry

    , Article Journal of Colloid and Interface Science ; Volume 308, Issue 1 , 2007 , Pages 249-253 ; 00219797 (ISSN) Fainerman, V. B ; Makievski, A. V ; Krägel, J ; Javadi, A ; Miller, R ; Sharif University of Technology
    2007
    Abstract
With modified measuring procedure and measuring cell design in the drop profile tensiometer PAT, it became possible to study the rate of water evaporation through adsorbed or spread surface layers. This method was employed to measure the rate of water evaporation from drops covered by adsorbed layers of some proteins and surfactants, in particular n-dodecanol. It was shown that the formation of dense (double or condensed) adsorbed layers of protein and the formation of 2D-condensed n-dodecanol layer decrease the water evaporation rate by 20-25% as compared with pure water. At the same time, the adsorbed layers of ordinary surfactants (sodium dodecyl sulfate and nonionic ethoxylated...

    Abstract
1-Aminophosphonates are valuable compounds with wide range of applications in biological and industry. Various reaction conditions and catalysts have been reported for the synthesis of 1-aminophosphonates via three-component (dialkyl phosphite + aldehyde + amine) or two-component reaction (dialkyl phosphite + imine). Here a solvent-free synthesis of 1-aminophosphonates under very mild reaction conditions is reported. The three-component condensation reactions of dialkyl phosphite, carbonyl compound, and an amine gave 1- aminophosphonates in good to excellent yields under solvent- and catalyst-free conditions at ambient temperature. Hydrophosphorylation of imines in the presence of dialkyl...
