    Abstract
Human beings have always been tried to make new, innovative things to benefit from. The new things have been improved from a wheel to a smart car and the benefits have been improved from survival to survival plus fitness, happiness, sense of belonging, security and etc. Companies which have been following the human nature, and thinking of new, innovative products and consumers’ benefits cohesively, could gain competitive advantages. But the process of new product development has always been costly and due to the high failure rate it is risky. One of the main challenges in NPD projects is understanding consumer's behavior. Most companies try to identify consumer's needs by knowledge...

    Abstract
To generalize simple bead-linker model of swimmers to higher dimensions and to demonstrate the chemotaxis ability of such swimmers, here we introduce a low-Reynolds predator, using a two-dimensional triangular bead-spring model. Two-state linkers as mechanochemical enzymes expand as a result of interaction with particular activator substances in the environment, causing the whole body to translate and rotate. The concentration of the chemical stimulator controls expansion versus the contraction rate of each arm and so affects the ability of the body for diffusive movements; also the variation of activator substance's concentration in the environment breaks the symmetry of linkers' preferred...

The Externality from Communal Metering of Residential Water: The Case of Tehran

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Taheri Hosseinabadi, Nastaran (Author) ; Vesal, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Rahmati, Mohammad Hossein (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
Many countries use a single water meter for multiple units within a building. This creates a cost externality where the cost of water consumed is spread over all units. Using administrative data from Tehran Water and Wastewater Co. for 2013 and 2014, we find an increase in the number of units on a communal meter on average increases per unit use by 0.4 percent. Estimation at different levels of units reveals that almost all communal meters have higher per unit water use. The results suggest that the externality is responsible for 2.7 percent of water consumption in our sample.

In this study, we develop several machine learning models, including RNNs (GRU and LSTM), Transformers, and XGBoost, by utilizing historical data of Yektanet (the leading...

Stress–strain time-dependent behavior of A356.0 aluminum alloy subjected to cyclic thermal and mechanical loadings

    , Article Mechanics of Time-Dependent Materials ; Vol. 18, issue. 3 , 2014 , p. 475-491 Farrahi, G. H ; Ghodrati, M ; Azadi, M ; Rezvani Rad, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
This article presents the cyclic behavior of the A356.0 aluminum alloy under low-cycle fatigue (or isothermal) and thermo-mechanical fatigue loadings. Since the thermo-mechanical fatigue (TMF) test is time consuming and has high costs in comparison to low-cycle fatigue (LCF) tests, the purpose of this research is to use LCF test results to predict the TMF behavior of the material. A time-independent model, considering the combined nonlinear isotropic/kinematic hardening law, was used to predict the TMF behavior of the material. Material constants of this model were calibrated based on room-temperature and high-temperature low-cycle fatigue tests. The nonlinear isotropic/kinematic hardening...
