Coupled Trajectory and Attitude Control of an Exoatmospheric Interceptor

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Farvardin Ahranjani, Fatemeh (Author) ; Nobahari, Hadi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis, coupled trajectory and attitude control of an exoatmospheric interceptor is investigated. The interceptor is considered to track and intercept orbital targets in its terminal phase using an infrared strapdown seeker. Attitude control system uses its thrusters in order to keep permanently the detector toward the target in both elevation and azimuth directions. Detector is attached to the body. Divert thrusters generate acceleration perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the interceptor to correct the trajectory. It is assumed that the interceptor has mass asymmetries. Transltional and rotational dynamics are coupled. Therefore, in order to improve the performance of...

On the contact mechanics of a rolling cylinder on a graded coating. Part 2: Numerical results

    Abstract
The analytical formulation of the fully coupled and the uncoupled rolling contact mechanics problems for all possible stick/slip regimes are derived in Part I (Alinia et al., 2013). In this part, we focus on the numerical algorithm, the iteration procedure and the numerical results. The coupled and the uncoupled solutions corresponding to each of the assumed stick/slip regimes are provided. The uncoupled solution provides an acceptable approximation to the problem for small coefficient of friction values. However, for high values of the coefficient of friction the problem should be solved in fully coupled form. In addition, the effect of several parameters such as the stiffness ratio, the...

Electrodeposition of long gold nanotubes in polycarbonate templates as highly sensitive 3D nanoelectrode ensembles

    Abstract
Electrodeposition of long and well-defined gold nanotubes in polycarbonate (PC) templates is still a major concern due to pore blockage problems. In the present study, we introduce a novel method for electrodeposition of long gold nanotubes within the pores of PC templates for the first time. In order to deposit gold atoms onto the pore walls preferentially, pore walls were functionalized with a coupling agent. Short and thin Ni nanotubes were then electrodeposited at the bottom of the pores. Gold nanotubes were subsequently electrodeposited at constant potentials and low solution concentrations. The morphology of nanotubes was characterized by electron microscopy and their formation...
