Synthesis of nano particles of LTA zeolite by means of microemulsion technique

    , Article Iranian Journal of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering ; Volume 30, Issue 2 , 2011 , Pages 1-8 ; 10219986 (ISSN) Esmaeili, N ; Kazemian, H ; Bastani, D ; Sharif University of Technology
    2011
    Abstract
This mini review article, intends to provide the essential information about microemulsion technique as a reliable approach toward the synthesis of zeolitic nano crystallites. The strategy discussed here provides a unique, effective, and potentially general methodology to the preparation of uniform and high purity nano crystallites of template-free zeolitic materials including LTA, faujasite type and other zeolitic-like materials (i.e. zeotype materials). Microemulsion is a reliable approach for controlled synthesis of uniform nano sized zeolitic particulates. On the other hand, the microwave assisted microemulsion technique has the advantages of short reaction time, producing smaller and...

Template-based growth of titanium dioxide nanorods by a particulate sol-electrophoretic deposition process

    , Article Particuology ; Volume 9, Issue 2 , 2011 , Pages 161-169 ; 16742001 (ISSN) Mohammadi, M. R ; Ordikhani, F ; Fray, D. J ; Khomamizadeh, F ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
TiO2 nanorods have been successfully grown into a track-etched polycarbonate (PC) membrane by a particulate sol-electrophoretic deposition from an aqueous medium. The prepared sols had a narrow particle size distribution around 17 nm and excellent stability against aging, with zeta potentials in the range of 47-50 mV at pH 2. It was found that TiO2 nanorods were grown from dilute aqueous sol with a low, 0.1-M concentration. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) analysis confirmed that a full conversion of titanium isopropoxide was obtained by hydrolysis, resulting in the formation of TiO2 particles. X-ray diffraction (XRD) results revealed that TiO2 nanorods dried at 100 °C were a...

Correlation between isothermal crystallization properties and slow crack growth resistance of polyethylene pipe materials

    Abstract
In this study, three PE100 polyethylene materials with fairly different short chain branch distributions were used to characterize the relation between thermal properties and creep test failure time. The samples were thermally characterized using isothermal and non-isothermal differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The three resins showed different behavior after fitting on the Avrami equation. N-100J2 sample, in which short chain branches (SCBs) are located on longer molecule chains, has a lower chain mobility and higher crystallization time, while N-100J1 has the opposite crystallization properties. Also, these samples had different Avrami index, n. Microstructural evaluation of these...

Production of high quality ammonium uranyl carbonate from “uranyl nitrate + carbonate” precursor solution

    , Article Progress in Nuclear Energy ; Volume 122 , 2020 Sadeghi, M. H ; Outokesh, M ; Zare, M. H ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate production of high quality ammonium uranyl carbonate (AUC) from “uranyl nitrate + ammonium bicarbonate”, or “uranyl nitrate + sodium carbonate” precursor solutions, by controlled injection of ammonium carbonate solution which could be applicable in material testing reactor (MTR) fuel production plant for recycling of rejected uranium oxide powder. The experimental observations revealed: at pHs higher than 6, precipitation proceeds with formation of no intermediate, thus ensuing a better morphology and size distribution of the AUC products. The results of scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, particle size analysis, and uranium content...
