Abstract
The cast-decant-cast is a new method for the preparation of the functionally graded components that has been developed in recent years. The functionally graded cylindrical shape component with a radial gradient, e.g. the first alloy (A390) with high wear resistance on the surface of the piece and toughness and the second alloy (A356) of low machining costs in the core of the piece can be produced via this melt process. The effect of the second alloy superheat at temperatures of 750, 820 and 860 °C as well as the effect of the first alloy solidified layer at 25, 35 and 45 s decanting time on achieving the perfect interface between the two alloys was investigated. The characterization of the...

Abstract
A small volume fraction of Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) added in a polymeric matrix increases significantly the mechanical properties of the polymers. It is experimentally determined from the TEM images of CNT-based nanocomposites that nanotubes don't stand straight in their embedded matrix and they have some curvature in their shape. The load transfer mechanism between CNT and polymer matrix is also one of the most important issues which is not understood explicitly, yet. In this paper a wavy Single Walled Carbon Nanotube (SWCNT) is modeled as inclusion in a polymer matrix and its effective mechanical properties is studied. This model is based on using 3-D Representive Volume Element (RVE) with...

Abstract
Due to the increasingly serious environmental problems presented by waste tires, the feasibility of using elastic and flexible tire-rubber particles as aggregate in concrete is investigated in this study. Tire-rubber particles composed of tire chips, crumb rubber, and a combination of tire chips and crumb rubber, were used to replace mineral aggregates in concrete. These particles were used to replace 12.5%, 25%, 37.5%, and 50% of the total mineral aggregate's volume in concrete. Cylindrical shape concrete specimens 15 cm in diameter and 30 cm in height were fabricated and cured. The fresh rubberized concrete exhibited lower unit weight and acceptable workability compared to plain concrete....
