Optimizing decentralized production–distribution planning problem in a multi-period supply chain network under uncertainty

    , Article Journal of Industrial Engineering International ; 2017 , Pages 1-16 ; 17355702 (ISSN) Nourifar, R ; Mahdavi, I ; Mahdavi Amiri, N ; Paydar, M. M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Decentralized supply chain management is found to be significantly relevant in today’s competitive markets. Production and distribution planning is posed as an important optimization problem in supply chain networks. Here, we propose a multi-period decentralized supply chain network model with uncertainty. The imprecision related to uncertain parameters like demand and price of the final product is appropriated with stochastic and fuzzy numbers. We provide mathematical formulation of the problem as a bi-level mixed integer linear programming model. Due to problem’s convolution, a structure to solve is developed that incorporates a novel heuristic algorithm based on Kth-best algorithm, fuzzy...

Optimizing Replenishment and Pricing in a Vendor-managed Inventory Supply Chain When Customers Negotiate

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Bagherirad, Sonia (Author) ; Modarres Yazdi, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study vendor-managed inventory policy in supply chains is investigated and a formulation is developed to optimize replenishments from vendor to retailer and also price for negotiator customers. As a result, we consider a two echelon supply chain containing a vendor and a retailer managed according to VMI policy. The goal is to find the optimal replenishment from vendor to retailer at the beginning of the month and by using dynamic programming approach to maximize the supply chain profit. Demand is nondeterministic and it is supposed Poisson distribution with unknown parameter. We will consider Gamma distribution for this parameter which its parameters are learning in dynamic...

Pricing and Lead Time Decisions in Decentralized Supply Chains Under Competition

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Afzalabadi, Maryam (Author) ; Shavandi, Hasan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This thesis investigated a two-echelon supply chain consists of one retailer and several manufacturers that faces a price and lead time sensitive demand. We use a Stackelberg game for decision analysis of prices and lead times determined by manufacturers as Leader and retailer as a Follower. We assume that demand depends to the retailer’s price. Market share of each manufacturer, is also price and lead time sensitive. Objective of each firm is to determine price and planned lead time to maximize her own profit. We first determine the best response of the retailer to manufacturers’ decision and next at manufacturers’ level, we will solve the problem for one manufacturer at first and then we...

Inventory Ordering System with Fuzzy Parameters in Supply Chain

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Nasiri, Mohsen (Author) ; Hajji, Rasool (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Inventory control has been always considered important due to its prominent role in managing and better application of resources in the field of operational systems. Ordering system or review stock policy in supply chain management can be mentioned as one of the inventory control study fields of management. A lot of researches have been done in investigating ordering system in supply chain under certainty conditions; however, since the real world is full of uncertainties, parameters such as demand cannot be predicted exactly and we encounter with ambiguity. In this case, using crisp (exact) values can cause to decide wrongly (a wrong decision). On the other hand, due to absence of sufficient...

Robust Optimization of Centralized and Decentralized Blood Supply Chain with Considering Blood Group Compatibility

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Aghalari, Amin (Author) ; Kianfar, Farhad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Blood supply chains play a key role in the healthcare systems. Any improvement in the management of these chains have a direct impact on the whole healthcare system. In this research two model for centralized and decentralized blood supply chain networks have been developed by mixed integer linear programming. These models are multi-periodic and include both tactical and strategical decisions for the several periods. In this research the blood group compatibility has been considered in the models, also demand and supply of blood have been considered uncertain, and due to this reason in order to deal with the uncertainty of model the robust Possibilistic programming has been utilized to find...

Pricing and lead-time decisions in a decentralized supply chain under competition

    Abstract
In this paper we study a two-echelon decentralized supply chain consists of one retailer and several manufacturers in competitive environment. The manufacturers compete on their price and lead time. To model the interactions between the retailer and manufacturers, we use Stackelberg game in which the manufacturers decide on their wholesale price and lead time as leader and the retailer decides on retail price and its order quantity to each manufacturer as follower. Besides, we use the Nash Equilibrium analysis to investigate the horizontal competition between manufacturers to model their simultaneous decision making on their price and lead time. In this problem, the customers' demand is a...

A rewarding-punishing coordination mechanism based on Trust in a divergent supply chain

    , Article European Journal of Operational Research ; Volume 230, Issue 3 , 2013 , Pages 527-538 ; 03772217 (ISSN) Pezeshki, Y ; Baboli, A ; Cheikhrouhou, N ; Modarres, M ; Akbari Jokar, M. R ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Coordination of decentralized supply chains using contract design is a problem that has been widely addressed in the literature. We consider a divergent supply chain including a supplier and several retailers producing fashion products with short sale seasons. The retailers cooperate with the supplier as sales agents; i.e.; they work in the framework of revenue sharing contracts. Because of their proximity to the market, retailers can provide more accurate demand forecasts to the supplier that is used to decide on issues such as capacity building and market prices with regard to retailers stiff due dates, different lead times and different price-dependent demand functions. To ensure abundant...

Simultaneous coordination of capacity building and price decisions in a decentralized supply chain

    Abstract
In this paper, we investigate the simultaneous coordination of price and capacity building decisions in a dyadic supply chain. This problem is a combination of capacity reservation problem and pricing problem. While the coordination of supply chain with stochastic demand and fixed prices has received much attention in the literature, price-dependent and stochastic demand has been less considered. We study the latter case where a price-setting retailer faces a linear decreasing demand with respect to price. To capture the uncertainty of the demand, we add a stochastic variable to the demand function. In addition, we incorporate production rate and inventory cost on the supplier side. We...
