Sustainability Assessment of Preventive Maintenance Plans (Case Study: Slurry Seal and Thin Overlay)
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Tabatabaee, Nader (Supervisor)
Abstract
Preventive maintenance strategies have been considered by highway agencies in order to increase pavement service life and to reduce the costs associated with pavement maintenance. Due to the increasing concern regarding promoting sustainable pavements, consideration of the environmental, economic and performance factors in devising preventive maintenance strategies is of great importance. This study contributes to developing a multicriteria decision-making tool for sustainability evaluation of pavement preventive maintenance strategies. The developed tool, PaveSAT, considers the greenhouse gas emission, net present value, and pavement performance to rank preventive maintenance schemes using...
Developing a model for integrating decisions in technology roadmapping by fuzzy PROMETHEE
, Article Journal of Intelligent and Fuzzy Systems ; Volume 26, Issue 2 , 2014 , Pages 625-645 ; ISSN: 10641246 ; Daneshmand Mehr, M ; Arasti, M. R ; Sharif University of Technology
Abstract
Roadmapping, a tool of strategic planning, visualize where and how an organization will be in the future. Visualization of strategic programs assists people in the organization to understand the strategy which is a key for implementing strategy successfully. A generic roadmap is included of three main layers such as; market, product and technology. Decision making in each layer are done separately because of the nature of each layer. Therefore, decisions in roadmapping can be done with different tools. Whiles, decisions in each layer of the roadmap cannot be done without considering the upper or lower layer decisions. In this study we propose Fuzzy PROMETHEE method for integrating decisions...

Abstract
Blood availability in hospitals is of high humanitarian importance, thus blood shortage is not desired at all. High wastage rate of blood in hospitals is an important issue, which becomes more important as the standards of health care services becomes higher. In order to address blood shortage and wastage issues in a hospital, this paper develops a new inventory management model as a decision making tool to help making tactical and operational level decisions for a Hospital Blood Bank (HBB) inventory management. These decisions include issuance and ordering policy and the aim of the model is to reduce blood wastage and shortage. For this purpose, a multi period, multi-product inventory...
Optimal design for solar greenhouses based on climate conditions

Abstract
Greenhouses require energy in order to provide a proper environment for crop production. Utilizing solar energy in solar greenhouses is a sustainable solution to face this problem. In this study, a solar greenhouse concept is considered, and a dynamic thermal model is developed to predict the inside air temperature. The model is integrated into an optimization procedure to find the optimal greenhouse design that has the best thermal performance by adjusting its structural parameters. This optimization procedure provides a tool to find the optimal solar greenhouse design for each climate condition and predict its performance. For instance, for the case study of Tehran (Iran), the optimal...
An AHP-based multi-criteria model for assessment of the social sustainability of technology management process: A case study in banking industry

Abstract
The abrupt development of technology has confronted different industries' managers with crucial decision points. The scope of their decisions' impact goes beyond their companies' borders. Sustainable assessment of technology investigates the economic, environmental, and social effects of technologies on firms and their environment. Nonetheless, the technology management process includes different steps (such as technology acquisition and exploitation) which need a comprehensive decision-making tool toward sustainable development targets. This paper aims to propose an integrated decision-making model to investigate the social sustainability of the technology management process. Considering...
