    Abstract
    Group-testing refers to the problem of identifying (with high probability) a (small) subset of D defectives from a (large) set of N items via a 'small' number of 'pooled' tests (i.e., tests have a positive outcome if even one of the items being tested in the pool is defective, else they have a negative outcome). For ease of presentation in this work we focus the regime when the number of defectives is sublinear, i.e., D = O (N1-δ) for some δ > 0. The tests may be noiseless or noisy, and the testing procedure may be adaptive (the pool defining a test may depend on the outcome of a previous test), or non-Adaptive (each test is performed independent of the outcome of other tests).     Abstract
    Format compliance, a desirable feature of multimedia security systems, means that the secured bitstream resembles the unprotected compressed bitstream. It is called full format compliance, if the scrambled stream can be decoded by a typical decoder. In this paper, we address the issues that are to be carefully taken into account to develop efficient fully format compliant scrambling methods for compressed video. We also propose new selective scrambling methods for securing compressed video streams.     Abstract
    Recently, distributed space-time coding over half duplex wireless relay networks has been proposed to achieve higher diversity at the receiver. The use of orthogonal and quasi-orthogonal designs in such relay networks has the advantage of providing maximum diversity at a low decoding complexity. However, similar to their originating space-time codes, these designs are restricted in terms of rate and number of relays. In order to alleviate such restrictions, we propose an extension of group-coherent codes (GCCs) to wireless relay networks.     Abstract
    This paper presents a comprehensive study on the Full-Rate and Linear-Receiver (FRLR) STBC proposed as a newly coding scheme with the low decoding complexity for a 2×2 MIMO system. It is shown that the FRLR code suffers from the lack of the non-vanishing determinant (NVD) property that is a key parameter in designing a full-rate STBC with a good performance in higher data rates, across QAM constellation. To overcome this drawback, we show that the existence of the NVD feature for the FRLR code depends on the type of the modulation. In particular, it is analytically proved that the FRLR code fulfills the NVD property across the PAM constellation but not for the QAM scheme. Simulation results... 

    A new approach to fast decode quasi-orthogonal space-time block codes

    Abstract
    Motivated by the statistical correspondence between phases of the transmitted and received vectors, we present a fast decoding method for quasi-orthogonal space-time block codes (QOSTBCs) in this paper. The proposed decoder selects proper candidates from precomputed and sorted sets by focusing on the phase of a specific entry of the combined and decoupled vector. The ML metric of the most probable candidates is first evaluated, and then, the remaining candidates are assessed based on the similarity between the phases.     The use of cooperative schemes in wireless networks has recently attracted much attention in scenarios where application of multipleantenna systems is impractical. In such scenarios, the requirement of having full channel state information (CSI) at the receiver side can be relaxed by using differential distributed (DD) transmission schemes. However, in the DD schemes proposed so far, the decoding complexity as well as the delay requirements increase with the number of relays.     To achieve the available performance gains in half-duplex wireless relay networks, several cooperative schemes have been earlier proposed using either distributed space-time coding or distributed beamforming for the transmitter without and with channel state information (CSI), respectively.
