    Abstract
The biodegradation behavior of Mg, coated by polymethyl methacrylate as well as polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA)−bioactive glass (BG) composite was investigated. Electrophoretic deposition and dip coating techniques were adopted to prepare composite coating using a suspension of different percentages of the above two chemical materials. The deposited coatings were characterized using SEM, EDS, FTIR, and water contact angle measurements. Biodegradation behavior study of the coated Mg was performed using linear polarization, impedance spectroscopy, and immersion tests in simulated body fluid. The compact and homogeneous composite coating was developed as evidenced by electron microscopy results....

Zn-Ni Electrophosphating on galvanized steel using cathodic and anodic electrochemical methods

    , Article Surface and Coatings Technology ; January , 2015 ; 02578972 (ISSN) Darband, G. B ; Afshar, A ; Aliabadi, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier  2015
    Abstract
Electrophosphating is the novel method for accelerating the low temperature phosphating bath. This method can be performed as cathodic and anodic treatments. Both of them influence the coating deposition mechanism and therefore coating properties. In this study Zn-Ni electrophosphate coating was applied on galvanized steel using cathodic and anodic electrochemical methods. Microstructure, composition and corrosion resistance of coating were characterized by using a scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction method and potentiodynamic polarization test respectively. The results of this study indicated that, by using cathodic method, compact phosphate coating with high corrosion...

Characterization of pulse reverse Ni-Mo coatings on Cu substrate

    , Article Surface and Coatings Technology ; Vol. 238 , 2014 , pp. 158-164 ; ISSN: 02578972 Surani Yancheshmeh, H ; Ghorbani, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
The effect of pulse reverse current (PRC) method on Ni-Mo coatings electroplated from chloride solution was investigated by various plating parameters such as plating duration, the anodic duty cycle, the anodic current density and the cathodic current density. By increasing the anodic duty cycle and anodic current density, the Mo content of coatings reached 68wt.% and 78wt.%, respectively at cathodic current densities of 500 and 300mAcm-2. The Mo content of coatings increases by the preferential dissolution of Ni on the anodic pulse and also by the replenishment of Mo complexes in the diffusion layer near the substrate surface during the anodic pulse. In comparison with the direct current...

CVD fabrication of carbon nanotubes on electrodeposited flower-like Fe nanostructures

    , Article Journal of Alloys and Compounds ; Volume 507, Issue 2 , 2010 , Pages 494-497 ; 09258388 (ISSN) Zanganeh, S ; Torabi, M ; Kajbafvala, A ; Zanganeh, N ; Bayati, M. R ; Molaei, R ; Zargar, H.R ; Sadrnezhaad, S. K ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Galvanostatic method was used to electrodeposit Fe nanostructures on platinum electrodes as catalysts. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed flower-like Fe deposits with high surface area. Carbon nanotubes were grown on flower-like Fe nanostructures by chemical vapor deposition. The structure of the synthesized carbon nanotubes was investigated by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. According to X-ray diffraction patterns, Fe was the only detected constituent of the deposited coating. The carbon nanotubes had small wall-thickness and wide hollow core

Electrochemical deposition of Ni-TiN nanocomposite coatings and the effect of sodium dodecyl sulphate surfactant on the coating properties

    , Article Bulletin of Materials Science ; Volume 39, Issue 4 , 2016 , Pages 1021-1027 ; 02504707 (ISSN) Parhizkar, N ; Dolati, A ; Aghababazadeh, R ; Lalegani, Z ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Ni-TiN nanocomposite coatings were prepared by using electrochemical deposition in a Watt's bath containing TiN particles to increase the hardness of Ni. The effects of deposition current density, electrolyte agitation speed and the number of particles in the solution on the amount of incorporated particles in the coating process were investigated. The optimum deposition current density of 4 A dm-2 and agitation speed of 450 rpm were obtained. The effect of sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) anionic surfactant on the amount of particles in the coatings was investigated. It was observed that the maximum amount of incorporated particles, with a value of 7.5% by volume, was created in the current...

    Abstract
Interface engineering has emerged as a great strategy for fabrication of high efficiency and stable perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Here, we deposit a thin layer of ZnS as a buffer layer at the interface of the perovskite absorber and electron transporting layer (ETL) using the atomic layer deposition (ALD) process. The impact of the ZnS layer on the photovoltaic characteristics of PSCs was investigated by comparison of two mesoscopic configurations, in which the ZnS layer is grown on compact TiO2 and on mesoporous TiO2 surfaces. Our results revealed that the addition of an ultrathin ZnS layer between the perovskite and ETL drastically improves the charge extraction properties and reduces...

Aperiodic perforated graphene in optical nanocavity absorbers

    Abstract
Aperiodic perforated graphene layers were synthesized and used in fabrication of optical nanocavity absorbers. Chemical vapor deposition-grown graphene (Gr) layers were exposed to oxygen plasma etching to obtain the perforated graphene (pGr). The fabricated pGr/SiO2 (68 nm)/Ag (150 nm) nanocavity could present significant higher optical absorption, especially at around 530 nm wavelength region, as compared to a benchmark Gr/SiO2 (68 nm)/Ag (150 nm) sample. The effect of pore size of the pGr layer on the absorption property of the nanocavity has been studied by both experimental and numerical methods. The dependence of the absorption property of the nanocavity on the incident angles of...
