    Abstract
Many important problems in Computational Geometry needs to perform some kind of angle processing. The Polar Diagram [4] is a locus approach for problems processing angles. Using this structure as preprocessing, one can eliminate exhaustive searches to find objects with smallest angle. Handling data in change is a significant concept in Computer Science. One of the design and analysis tools used in the modeling of moving geometric objects is the kinetic data structure (or KDS) framework Kinetic Data Structure is a framework for maintaining a certain attribute of a set of objects while moving in a continuous manner. In this paper, we use the notion of kinetic data structure to model the...

    Abstract
This paper presents a multi-stage algorithm for QRS complex classification into normal and abnormal categories using an unsupervised sequential beat clustering and a cross-distance analysis algorithm. After the sequential beat clustering, a search algorithm based on relative similarity of created classes is used to detect the main normal class. Then other classes are labeled based on a distance measurement from the main normal class. Evaluated results on the MIT-BIH ECG database exhibits an error rate less than 1% for normal and abnormal discrimination and 0.2% for clustering of 15 types of arrhythmia existing on the MIT-BIH database. © 2001 IEEE

    Abstract
Privacy is faced with serious challenges in the ubiquitous computing world. In order to handle this problem, some researchers in recent years have focused on design and analysis of privacy-friendly ultralightweight authentication protocols. Although the majority of these schemes have been broken to a greater or lesser extent, most of these attacks are based on ad-hoc methods that are not extensible to a large class of ultralightweight protocols. So this research area still suffers from the lack of structured cryptanalysis and evaluation methods. In this paper, we introduce new frameworks for full disclosure attacks on ultralightweight authentication protocols based on new concepts of...

    Abstract
One of the most prominent features of code division multiple-access (CDMA) cellular networks is their ability for applying soft-handoff. This type of handoff results in a better supporting of seamless communication services, capacity enhancement, QoS improvement, etc. Because of existence of more parameters and flexibilities compared to hard-handoff, an optimum solution for soft-handoff management and admission control for new and handoff calls is necessary. In this paper we propose a new algorithm with two thresholds for admission of new and handoff calls, and with two decision boundaries for controlling of handoff traffic. We compare this algorithm with a simpler one with only one decision...

    , Article 2011 IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics, ICM 2011 - Proceedings ; 2011 , pp. 654-659 ; ISBN: 9781612849836 Pourzand, H ; Ghaemi, R ; Alasty, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
In this paper, a novel thermal microactuator is designed which is capable of producing bi-directional lateral and rotational output and one of its applications as a two DOF micromanipulator is shown. Also, by carefully choosing the doping level, temperature distribution is determined by considering the dependency of silicon's resistivity and conductivity to temperature. Using variable separation method an equation in terms of elliptic integrals is reached and after imposing boundary conditions the exact temperature distribution is obtained numerically. Currents at each branch is updated due to the last temperature distribution and this process is repeated several times until the final...

    Abstract
This paper proposes, for the first time, a tunable left handed transmission line consisting of a strip line sandwiched between a ferrite superstrate and a dielectric substrate containing a metallic wire array. The left-handed behavior is realized by combining the negative permittivity of the wire array with the negative permeability of the longitudinally magnetized ferrite substrate despite them being spatially separated. Theoretical and numerical results demonstrate the tunability of the left-handed frequency band by changing the DC bias magnetic field applied to the ferrite. Compared to other tunable lefthanded structures, the fabrication requirements on this structure are not critical,...

    Abstract
In this paper the Contour Integral (CI) method is applied to the design and analysis of substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) filters. This method is used for planar structures and is based upon the discretization of the boundary of the structure and needs less memory than full wave methods. For decreasing the computation time, circular vias replaced by square ones. A four pole Chebyshev X band dual inductive post substrate integrated waveguide filter is designed using this technique and the results are compared with measurements and simulation software Ansoft HFSS. Good agreement is seen between the results

    Abstract
During laparoscopic surgery, grasping of large body organs such as spleen, kidney, and liver, is a difficult task using conventional instruments. This paper describes the design and analysis of a novel actuated endoscopic grasper for manipulation of large internal organs. The designed instrument resembles a miniaturized three fingered hand with each finger consisting of two links. It could pass through a 10 mm trocar and then be opened inside the abdomen to grasp body organs up to 80 mm diameter. A detailed force analysis of the mechanism revealed that high actuating forces are required to grasp large organs. In order to facilitate the actuation of the grasper, its dimensions were optimized...

    Abstract
In this paper, we report on the design and analysis of filters and lenses realized by an array of metallic posts integrated in a parallel-plate waveguide (PPWG). The design methodology of these components is inferred from the modal analysis of a spoof surface plasmonic waveguide composed of metallic posts arranged in a 1D periodic structure inside PPWG. Samples of the proposed devices are analyzed using a full-wave analysis method and their performance is assessed. We show that the mentioned structure can be used to realize all-metallic band-pass filters and lenses for mm-wave and terahertz applications

    Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to design and analyze a 3-link micro-device proposed as a micro-manipulator. This micro-manipulator includes 3 micro-beams as links connected to one another with no conventional or flexural joints. While the structure of the micro-manipulator is monolithic, end-effector workspace is achieved through deflection of links which is actuated by piezoelectric layers. By combining static analysis of the links through a multilayer piezoelectric beam model and kinematic analysis of the micro-manipulator, inverse kinematic has been solved utilizing the Taylor series expansion technique and the perturbation method. The obtained results through the present model reveal that...

    Abstract
None of the processing models in the software development has explained the software systems performance evaluation and modeling; likewise, there exist uncertainty in the information systems because of the natural essence of requirements and this may cause other challenges in the processing of software development. By the definition of UML extended version (Fuzzy UML), software functionality requirements that are stated in an uncertain way are supported; moreover, the concrete model is converted to formal model for modeling and performance evaluation of the software systems. This paper describes a methodology to develop a fuzzy coloured Petri net (F-CPN) model of a system. The F-CPN model...

A new developed semi-full-scale approach to facilitate the CFD simulation of shell and tube heat exchangers

    , Article Chemical Engineering Science ; Volume 245 , 2021 ; 00092509 (ISSN) Darbandi, M ; Abdollahpour, M. S ; Hasanpour Matkolaei, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The full-scale CFD simulations may not be recommended in preliminary steps of STHEs’ design and sensitivity analyses because of heavy computations. This work benefits from the sequential geometry repetitions in STHEs and presents a new semi-full-scale approach, which alleviates the need for full-scale simulation of STHEs. This approach first isolates the smallest zone, say block, which is sequentially repeated in the STHE domain. Second, this block is carefully simulated considering various thermal and flow working conditions. Third, the data collected from these CFD simulations are used to generate the required thermal and flow correlations for the chosen block at various working...
